gps icon running randomly?

Does anyone know why my GPS icon on the top toolbar of my phone would be running randomly? I have no apps running that would require it to come on and the only way to get it to turn off is to power the phone down and then turn it back on. It doesn't bother me.but I do believe it is running my battery down faster then normal.

One obvious theory is that you DO HAVE one or more apps running that turn it on. It may not be something you suspect. The app may sound innocent. But I fear we're only seeing the beginning of what has plagued the Windows world for years. "Oh, but I wanted to see the dancing pink elephant screen saver, so I downloaded it and followed the destructions carefully."

It is only a theory about it being a rogue application, but I merely ask: are you really sure some app doesn't want to track your location?

Latitude requires gps. It might be trying to update.

Ill have to look harder to try and see if anything is updating. As far as I can tell though nothing should be or is at the time this is happening.
