So as the title states my Droid has some major water damage, but after about 30 min of low heat in my oven and a few more hours of drying it now powers on. Problem it is stuck on the bootloader. So my question is do you guys think i screwed up whatever part of the phone that stores the ROM, does it need more dry time (this only happened about 4 hours ago), or should I just try reinstalling my ROMS off my SD card without waiting any longer? Im planning on giving it another cycle of heat/dry time then reflashing everything but don't really want to go through all the hassle unless anyone has better ideas....

Ive heard of this happening to a a few other droids. None of them found a solution that I know of. Do you have insurance?

Rice is the best way to go. The problem is, turning on the phone before doing that will most likely negate anything the rice can do. Once it's turned on, that's when the damage starts.

Still, try the rice, but I don't think it'll help.

If the Droid is on back order, tell them to send you whatever they have now and that you want a Droid or better in the future as they become available.

If they give you crap and say they can't give you a better replacement as they come in, end the insurance and get on ebay/Craigslist and find a Droid there. They should be around $175 and since you probably won't go through insurance again in the future with this phone, it may be best to not put money in their pockets only to get a POS as a replacement.

Had this happen to me. Had my phone sitting outside my shower (only way I could hear music inside the shower [have since bought some cheap speakers]). Anyway, phone magically hopped into the shower with me. My reflexes being very cat-like, I ripped the battery out and literally threw the whole thing straight out of the shower. After it had fallen in, it stayed on and just vibrated non-stop.

After I'd gotten out, I took a blow dryer to it and let it sit for awhile. Powered on fine and went straight to boot loader. Flashed it with RSDLite and everything was fine.

What you're having sounds exactly like what I had. Everything's fine now (this was maybe 3 months ago). Only problem was the front LED didn't work for awhile, then it just started working again. I'd say it's worth a try to give it a go with RSDLite, not really much more damage you can do now.
