Would anyone want the Incredible at this point

Can someone please tell me why someone would still by (and wait for) a Droid Incredible when they can get Droid X (bigger screen) or Droid 2 (built in 2.2). If you say "because of the 8 MB camera", Ill answer back with "cell phones dont make good camera's". they are all teh same price and all require the same dataplan and all have the same ETF. They are all 1Ghz too. It looks like HTC is lone man out in the Verizon Droid world (at least at this point), no.

Im glad that ALLY is still around (and expected to get 2.2) since that is a good entry smartphone for my wife (if she wants one).

The Dinc is a great phone. My wife has one and it is every bit as snappy as my rooted droid. It fits a nice niche where a smaller ligher phone is desired (over the x). After playing around with both the X and the Dinc I would get the dinc just because of the size. We have had zero problems with the phone. You are correct aobut the camera. I hardly ever use cell phone cameras.

If I was up for an upgrade right now I would probably get a Dinc simply because the Droid X and the Droid 2 have locked down bootloaders.

Ya know I said this but now I have come into a new every 2 that I will be able to use at very latest the end of the month and I think I will be getting either a DX or a D2. The Dinc can flash roms now but I am sure the bootloader thing with get worked out on motorola phones eventually

Not going to hold out for a 2GHz SUPERPHONE? Haha! I'm not due for an upgrade for awhile so no loss for me if they don't actually make it. If I was eligible for an upgrade now...I'm not sure what I would do...

Ive got no will power and if things work out the way I am hoping I will have another upgrade available to me so I could use if/when the super phone emerges. Its nice to have a job with a bunch of mobile phone lines that no one upgrades.

+1. My wife just ordered the Dinc b/c she didn't want the size of the X and didn't want the keyboard of the D2. Dinc is still competitive with those phones.

What the hell is wrong with the people you work with? :D

Lol its actually my/my bosses choice that they dont upgrade. They only need dumb phones and I see no reason to spend money on upgrading their phones. Im the finance guy. If anyone actually complained about it I would probably get them a new dumb phone off ebay instead of wasting a new every 2. My boss goes through phones about every 6 months so thats where most of the upgrades go.

I have a couple of upgrades available right now (5 lines on my account) but I don't think any of the options out are much better than my rooted droid. We'll have to play around with the D2 when it hits and give it a month or so to make sure the bugs are out before I decide, but I am not really expecting it to be heads and tails above my rooted droid. We will see though. If the battery life is somehow way better (don't know how they would do that with 1400 battery) or the flash works relialbly (doesn't on my rooted droid) I may give the D2 a serious look. I would only be giving up the wireless tether but I can live with usb tether.

From what I have read flash preforms much better on the DX and D2. I think right now I am leaning towards the DX cause I like the bigger screen. I have seen a number of reliable people who went from Root Droid to DX and they say the DX on 2.1 with no oc is faster than a 2.2 1.2ghz oced D1

20 years from now no one will know what r2d2 means - it will be an obscure pop reference at best and maybe mean something else.

You heard it here first.

First of all, I doubt this considering R2D2 has been around for 33 years already and just about everyone still knows who he is. Second of all, you won't be using the same phone in 20 years anyway so why does this even matter? If someone is a collector of Star Wars things they'll definitely still know what it is even in 20, 30, or more years.

Hmmm... Its been around since 1979 when I was like 5 years old and still as known today as it was then... Im not the biggest fan, but that series is pretty huge to a lot of people...

I just got a Dinc for my wife and compared to hers, my D1 seems sluggish (maybe that Froyo I installed!). While I like stock, there are a couple of things about Sense that I like, and the screen is very nice. She considered the DX and the D2, and even the Ally for the keyboard, but is happy she got the Dinc.

Oh, and she only had to wait a day, it came overnight!

Some people are just HTC fans... Im surprised no keyboard device from the yet... I really like the TouchPro and TreoPro they made for windows devices...

I am also a huge fan and kidding aside, the collectibles market waxes and wains with the population age group that most identifies with the collectible and their available surplus funds.

That combined with what they do with the franchise, maybe keeping it alive across a few generations will dictate if r2d2 becomes betty boop or shirley temple or stays r2d2.

and i would get the special edition and use it!

I use my phone for work entirely too much to have the R2D2 edition. I dont think it would make me look very good if I had to pull that out in a meeting.

Exact reason why I am not getting it. When I go into a meeting with my Droid, it makes me look like a pro :)

Star Wars came out in 1977..... and since then it has become bigger and bigger through more movies, cartoons, and promotional items (such as this)

Anyways, I perfer the Incredible to any of the new Moto handsets because of the unlocked boot loader. If Moto wants to have closed down hardware, they shouldn't have Android on it.
