Need emergency help with motorola droid

Guys I need Help really .I bought a motorola droid the other Day and downloaded droid 2.2 from here onto it , well now I have to return phone to verizon tomorrow morning ,long story . I am getting the droid 2 ,I need someone to help me please put droid 2.1 back on this phone like it was from factory. my number is i would be verryyyyyyy grateful for the help . i am computer simple minded so i need a simple way . I tried to reset phone and that didnt work .

Did you download the 2.2 OTA update from the thread http://androidforums.com/motorola-d...update-motrola-droid-frg01b-update-1-2-a.html ?
If so that is not voiding the warranty at all and can be returned as is.
If you installed a 2.2 root/rom/etc, then you will need to restore to 2.1

Your number is probably floating around 4Chan right now.

You will need to follow the root tutorial to get you back to 2.0.1. You don't need to update tot 2.1 after that. 2.0.1 is fine. The instructions are posted in the root tutorials. And again, stop once you have 2.0.1. You are done.

Thanks I did the one (How to force android 2.2 ) and I have no idea what 4chan is I am just an honest guy looking for honest help , i need to change this thing back and have no idea how to do it I am computer slow . I did find a guy on here that says he could not return his for this reason ... Thanks

*I just want everyone to know that I didn't write this guide, just the first paragraph. You can thank ikithme for the guide.

Now that a .sbf file has been released for our Droid's we can always recover them using RSD Lite. it is pretty easy to use this. Of course if you physically break your phone it won't help, but if you screw anything up software wise you are covered.

If you unplug your phone while doing this it will break it beyond repair, Verizon will not be able to fix it. DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS UNLESS YOU ABSOLUTELY NEED TO USE IT!

Here is a guide.
Requirements
A. A stock sbf file
2.0 VZW_A855_ESD20_QSC6085BP_C_01.3B.01P_SW_UPDATE.sbf
2.0.1 VZW_A855_ESD56_QSC6085BP_C_01.3E.01P_SW_UPDATE_03. sbf
2.1VZW_A855_ESE81_QSC6085BP_C_01.3E.03P_SW_UPDATE_02. sbf

B. http://androidoverdrive.com/downloads/RSDLite4.6.7z (RSDLite 4.6)

C. Current Motorola Drivers

Make sure you download the correct drivers for your system either 32bit or 64bit

Instructions:
1. Download all of the files above including the 32-bit OR 64-bit Motorola USB Drivers.
2. Install RSDLite AND the 32-bit or 64-bit Motorola USB Drivers (Depends on your system most will need 32-bit some will need 64-bit)
3. Connect your phone to USB and turn it off then turn it back on, while your phone is booting hold up on the DPAD. (Some users have said it is easier to hold the volume down button and camera button instead.)
4. Run RSD Lite 4.6 as Administrator (For all you Vista and 7 folks out there. If you are using XP you may not need to run as Administrator)
5. Click the ... next to the filename box and browse to where you saved the .sbf file and double click the .sbf file.
6. Hit start and below it should give you completion progress and all of that.
7. Once your phone is done being flashed (It may take a while so don't unplug it) it will reboot and you will be back at stock 2.0.1 no root.
8. Done

I used that method above to take mine from 2.2 to 2.0.1 to do some testing and went right back to 2.2... So i know it works...

or did you just force the update?

if you are rooted go back to stock

if you are not then you are fine

You'll be fine, you don't need to do anything. The 2.2 update you forced is the same one that people are receiving over the air.

Thanks I did the steps in Outlaws post and it worked great . I am just new to alot of this the other forums I belong to are guys that I do actually talk live to alot . I ride a Harley and know lots of good folks from all over the world that ride them also . I was with the Family MC for a time and now I ride with Dream Riders Bicking For Children . So I guess I was a little nieve before . This seems to be a great site for info though alot of people a heck of a lot smarter than me for sure. As I posted in the intro thread I am 42 and retired from 22 yrs. in the auto industry ,wife is a nurse 5 grown girls . Thanks everyone for the much needed help.

you could of returned the phone with 2.2

I was asked this morning if I had used an update floating around online and the guy actually looked to see for himself, The speaker was messed up when talking on it it sounded really muffled , store guy tried it himself and tried different things and finally said it was just a bad phone , Got the droid 2 and it really does blow the droid away. the 2.2 is alot different than the one I got offline for the droid also.

I thought that the OTA 2.2 (currently being rolled out) is identical to the file lots of folks force updated last week. Are they different?
