This tool is very easy to use.
Set debug option in Settings, Applications, Development Check USB Debugging.
Plug your phone in and make sure you have the drivers installed, wait for it to install your ADB drivers.
** ALSO make sure you have a properly formated SDCard in the phone **

This program has error debugging built in, if it does not detect your LG Ally it does not continue. If it fails. Reboot your phone and try again. Let the program do its thing.

Now i need someone who is up for a challenge.
I flash phones to cricket, if you search my name you will see me everywhere.
There is a new technique that LG is using to make some settings revert in the NV memory of the phone.

I think this might be done with the kernel, I have tried modifying the bin file a few times and flashing it with LGNPST, I either end up with a dead phone or a no go.

If anyone might have some information on this please share it. Thanks.

With a custom recovery official OTA updates will not install as custom recoveries are using public test keys vs a vendor's own private keys. Many of the updates dont replace files they use a diff/patch system which would be a disaster if it would install. LG or other vendors compare/diff the old file to the new one and use a patch system. Example of diff is here . When you have a custom rom the files are well, custom and different than the update patch is designed for. Can you imagine what might happen if you are using a older radio version because it works better for you and the vendor puts out a radio.diff file based on a radio that you aren't using and then it get applied? That's right its a brick.

For the M.IP/S.IP string Amoamare are are you setting it with QXDM, QPST, or in phone NV edit? I'll see if I can help you figure it out as I'm quite good at converting other carrier's phone's to the Big Red and have used many a sprint handset.

i lost my original rom...? i backed it up and coppied it to computer but it disappeared, i have a backup of the current one with root though... but the point is ill never get OTA updates now cuz i dont have the original rom, right??

These are attempted tries.
Write directly to memory with CDMAWS by dumping the whole phone and marking address.
Write NV.
Write with LGNPST.
Modify BIN file and flashing it.
Modify Radio File and Recovery and Flashing it.

what if vmanisme tried to push the v6 software to his phone via the lg mobile updater software? would that brick his phone?

yes there are ways. You can reflash the rom wich will remove root and set you back to defaults.

Just a heads up this method doesn't work on the leaked V09. It works well on V06 & V08 though. Refrain from upgrading to V09.

Ill post the stock recovery soon if you need it. Downgrading does not restore it.

No it restored it, went to v6, 20min later got the upgrade for v8 OTA, backing this up and back to this ROM

will give this a shot on my wifes ally tonight, didnt want to have to work with terminal, im so used to going directly to recovery and just applying update.zip on my droid 1. thanks for this, hopefully it works

Well idk what happened with urs but I'm pretty sure mine did if I got the v8 update pushed to my phone
