Hi All! So I took the plunge and followed the super easy one click method for rooting my Eris....stupid easy!

I installed the XTRrom3.0.3 and I like the feel, getting used to only 3 screens.....so much cleaner! I installed the extra .zip files that come with it, installed Set Cpu (using for now, seems stable). Love the wireless teather, can't wait to show that off!

Silly question I can't seem to find an answer to....How can I change the lock screen wallpaper from the standard carbon fiber?

I would also like to have a rotate unlock instead of the drag down. All help is appreciated!

So you can't have the Sense UI with a rooted phone? Damn, I liked how Sense used Facebook to manage contacts and the clock and weather built into one widget was nice too.

What else is missing when you rooted?

...or, you can do an in-place root: i.e., root your stock 2.1 Eris without changing anything by just giving yourself root privileges. From there, you can add wi-fi tethering, update your kernel so you can overclock, etc.

This way, you can keep everything you already have and like, including Sense.

It used to be that the only way to root was by installing a new rooted ROM over top of the existing O/S, but now we've got options. Let me know if you want more details re. this.

You can still use Facebook with your contacts, the XTR3.03 comes with an app for that :)

There are a ton of apps you can download for weather/clock widgets.....root is not missing anything but LAG! I might try a rom with more sense features in the future, but I'm liking the change for now!
