How do I Unroot?

I created a backup while following rooting instructions for mac (http://androidforums.com/htc-droid-eris/125436-detailed-leak-root-tutorial.html) so I figure I should be able to revert the phone back to its original state. How do I do this?

There is a 2.1RUU application that reverts to stock 2.1 unrooted: Verizon's RUU for the Official 2.1 for Droid Eris

start your phone in recovery mode and access your nandroid backup. thats what i did.

and 7 minutes after you posted this thread you posted another thread asking how to use HTC widgets with Froyo.......... if you unroot you cannot keep Froyo.... you will be back on stock 2.1

Well i suppose he could "unroot" by flashing the stock recovery after flashing a froyo rom, but thats pushing it a little bit on the definition of root.

start your phone in recovery mode and access your nandroid backup. thats what i did.

If you have an intact Nandroid backup of your original ROM, that's all you need to do to get a ROM which operates in "factory-like" behaviors.

If you are returning the phone because of a warranty issue, and you want it to be "pure as the driven snow" - no trace of rooting activity, then use the RUU or install the Leak-V3 ROM.
