so im waiting for fed ex to come to deliver my x, and in the half hour my wife goes to the store of course they have to come. now i have to wait until 5 oclock to pick it up

This happened to me today too, although for my Verizon Network Extender. My apartment is a black hole of cell service. I've had people with all four major carriers in the apartment and not one got good service.

Yes they will, depending on the shipping that Verizon uses. If others have reported that you can write a note and have them leave it, then Verizon obviously uses the shipping method that meets the requirement below.

If your package was shipped with the Indirect Signature Release option, you may leave a signed and dated handwritten note on the door instructing the driver to leave the package at your door.

Hmm. Okay my mistake. Sorry about that. Must be a choice by the company then. I've had a few things sent from Dell and Sideshow Collectibles, and neither would leave the package without someone present.

EDIT: I think I will actually leave a note on the door of the address where I'm having mine shipped. The house is located in the next town/county over, (sounds farther than it is) and it's a bit of a drive. I don't really feel like driving all the way out there, then all the way back + the distance to the FedEx location just to pick it up. I would rather them leave it there so that I can just drive over there and pick it up once it's delivered. The neighborhood is very new and isolated, as well as incredibly friendly. I'm not really worried about it getting jacked or something. One of my family members will most likely be there to sign for it anyway.

The day my x arrived i had been waiting all day and finally at quarter till two i had to leave for my two to eleven shift at work. I get a text at 2:15 from my girlfriend that it came and she couldn't drive cuz she was just put in a cast. I had to wait almost ten hours knowing my phone was three miles away and i had been waiting for a week already.
