Root Downgrade back to 1.x radio with a mac..

Sorry for the newbness here, but can u go into some detail? From what I understood going down from 2.x was quite tricky and ive only seen tutorials on a windows. Thanks!

+1 on looking for details on how to do this too on a Mac. I have rooted, radio is 2.0 and running 2.2. I am looking to downgrade back to stock. I have found the SDK manager for Mac downloaded the zip in the sticky, however I would appreciate a detailed tutorial as I am far out of my element. I should have stayed in the kiddie pool, not ready for the high dive yet.

Cheers!

From what I understand if you are using Unrevoked Forever all you need to do is find the radio you want, rename the zip file to "PB31IMG.zip", boot into HBOOT (not recovery) and after it prompts you to install, push up to install.

This will downgrade you back to the original radio. This is just on what I read, as I have the 2.15 radio, and haven't downgraded it before. If you go to the 2.15 thread you can see the same instructions, plus the original radio in zip file.

What if you are not using unrevoked forever? I am waiting for them to do a S-ON update so I can turn S-OFF off when I need to send my phone in for a new one.

Before the forum reset I found a post with instructions to go from 2.05 to stock without forever. Now it is gone.

I downgraded from the leaked OTA back to stock 2.1 basically following this videl

YouTube - mejdam's Channel

There are a few threads that describe the process by running the RUU (from Windows for example - that I avoid). The video's producer used the more ingenious approach to load the RUU's rom.zip renamed PB31IMG.zip on the sdcard right from the start. When booting to recovery, the install of the PB31IMG.zip will fail as the HBOOT that came with the leaked OTA is newer and therefore prevents updating the old image over the leaked image.

The trick to this (without S-OFF) is to use adb to push over an older HBOOT, flash it and boot to it. The nifty part was that if you pull the USB cable and battery and then restart directly into recovery, the existing PB31IMG that previously failed will now install (in two steps - don't worry about the first install attempt - it looks bad, but it really isn't).

For me, the process was smooth.
