This isn't typical I'm sure and it's already been dealt with but just fyi incase anyone else has this issue..

My droid bricked today during the update. It downloaded/installed fine. Then automatically restarted and wouldn't go much further then the moto logo.

The replacement should be here tuesday.

Got the Froyo update on my phone this morning. Downloaded just fine. Starts to reboot and the Motorola M is staring at me all day. Of course I am 900 miles from home and I go to a Verizon store here in D.C. and they say that it is shot and they will have to mail me a new (referb) one because they don't have any in stock. I was just pissed so I walked out without challenging them. I am going back tomorrow to either get a new phone, referb phone or try to make a deal on the D2 or the DX. I need a phone for the rest of my trip. Not sent from my Droid. :D

IMO, try to get a D2 if you can. Other than that I would say you can't do better than a Droid 1.

Well, had to go to Virgina for an open full Verizon store. They checked and there is not a store within 500 miles that has a referb Droid. I don't think that could have been the case, but I was raising a stink and he offered me a pay as you go phone with 10 bucks air time on it, so I would at least make a phone call. I told him that I needed the phone for work emails and such, but no luck. I am having them ship a Droid home and it will be there when I get home next week sometime.

Yeah, the situation is the same and has been for over a month in my area (Inland Empire, Southern California). I think he only checked within 50 miles though. Just FYI, you should have had them ship it too you on vacation. It takes FAR less time than they tell you. The first time they asked us if we wanted net day shipping and we said no. This was a Thursday and it came the next day anyway (even without next day shipping). Then the second time was on a Saturday, and the phone came on Tuesday...

We were going to do that but we are staying in a cabin in the Smoky Mountains and I did not know the address for the company. Funny thing is when we tried to look up the address for the company the verizon internet would not work on their netbooks in the store.

I have seen people with this happening to them, they just let the phone do its thing and after a while it all worked out. The big thing is to NOT MESS WITH THE PHONE WHILE IT IS UPDATING. As in DONT TOUCH THE PHONE.

Wow, you know where the cap button is. Good for you. I figured that after five hours of NOT TOUCHING IT, would have been long enough. I guess not acording to you. Thanks for your input.

The "M" logo is not a sign of bricked phone ...

I have been stuck there before :) and its really not that big of a deal.

If you want to keep your phone and not gamble on a refurb I suggest reading this thread to learn about RSDlite and flashing your phone. It is not too hard if you can follow instructions. Otherwise just let VZW deal with it.
