This would happen from time to time on my Blackberry and the easy fix was to search only unread messages and it would return some random message that was marked as read in the inbox. Since there's no way to search unread messages how can I find the email that the phone thinks is unread since all the emails in my inbox are read?

I had this problem, scroll to bottom of list so that it generates more emails, (or try to just do a search) and see if you get a 'no connectivity' error.

If that's your case, been there..

Restarting my phone fixed it once for me. Two other times I had to do a factory reset to fix. I swapped the phone, hasn't happened since. Knock on wood..

I scrolled for a loooooong time and rebooted three times before creating this thread.

I imagine you tried Settings -> Refresh.

You could still try a reset. Turns out it's pretty painless. Even re-downloaded all my apps for me. All I had to do was redo my widgets and desktop icons.

Anyway, good luck to ya - I have no other thoughts on it.. I'm new to owning an Android device myself (believe it or not!). Hopefully others can chime in with better advice.

Yeah, I sure did try that but thanks for taking the time to suggest it since the most basic things can often be overlooked.

I had this issue last week. After checking my account on a PC and opening a few of my recent read emails, the Andriod app seemed to sync up with no problems. Not 100% sure if this fixed it, but worth a try.

This ended up fixing it. I checked from a PC once and saw nothing. Then after this post I logged in again and there was an unread email that was in my Droid's inbox. Thanks for the help everyone!

It would be nice if the GMail on the DROID supported advanced search techniques like the web interfae does:

Using advanced search - Gmail Help

Since I use IMAP at home, and since (contrary to my popular belief) the GMail app does seem to use IMAP as well, I just figured out how I could view my other 'labels' (which I still call folders) from my phone.

Still haven't figured out a way to restrict the msg view to 'just unread' yet - and I ahve been perusing the GMail mobile help sites for over an hour now....
