They know the world is iPhone crazy, and they also know the press and the entire world is all over the fact that "Android is about to take over"

Wouldnt it make business sense to push the sh*t out of your product which is closest to the iPhone?

Its close in size, it downloads apps, its specced wayyyy better, has wayyy more functionality and features ..

I dont see any commercials, support is minimal, updates/bug fixes should be rolling out daily as needed

but nothing. I see D2 and X commercials left and right.

What gives? Im feeling like i bought "The best phone you never heard of" lol

I still see ads here and there, but you would expect MORE ads for the newer phones!

Because [?]:

- They want clueless mainstream consumers using Motorola devices
- Motorola is paying through the nose to be in the spotlight
- HTC devices have always been for people 'in the know' ("Quietly Brilliant")
- The EVO is much more like the iPhone in features
- The Galaxy S is much more like the iPhone in appearance
- Verizon may be getting the iPhone soon and wants a stronger showing when it debuts

I dunno... just some ideas...

Compared to the dinc, the iPhone is ugly and wide-- it also has no [track]balls. Nor does it have a notification LED and a host of other ignorant design decisions.

Why would someone dumb enough to buy Apple hardware really want an Incredible short of being told you were not cool unless you owned one?

Apparently there are many many millions of people who either completely disagree with you, or really don't give a sh*t.

But lets keep this on topic rofl

Commercials cost money to air. HTC is less about spending their money on ads and more about making better phones. The only reason you see Evo being "pimped" is because Sprint is tauting it's 4G abilities and thus advertising it's network more than the hardware. Motorola, however, is all about getting back to their Razr (and Droid1) glory days.

Yes, but that is online. They are out of stock in almost all the retail stores around me (Cleveland). How many regular consumers buy their phone online?

hhhmmmmm pay $300.00 and get $100 rebate in store or pay $180 with free overnight shipping?

If you are smart, you buy your phone online. INSTANT rebate and sometimes lower overall price.

I see the mention of the one day backorder being enough. If the implication by this thread that advertising would sell more phones, then by the same logic, the backorder would probably be much more than 1 day. It's not good service to be back ordered at all, so they probably don't want to spend a ton of money to advertise and then piss people off.

Do you know how much advertising costs?? For a single device?? They really should just advertise the "droid' line in total, then have people come in to a store.

Plus, why should they pay for advertising?? We do it for free by telling our friends our great it is! That alone was enough to have orders backlogged for 2 months!

Wait you didnt just mention the trackball like it was a useful feature did you? Everytime i look at the trackball i just think of the space wasted by putting it on the phone. I seriously have never used it.

I agree. Companies like New Balance and ASICS use word of mouth over commercials and they are popular brands

I find it quite useful. I had a couple of friends with iphone comment on how they wish they had an optical joystick. Makes it easy to go to certain spots in a text to make corrections.
