**Confirmed: Pulling Battery Tab does NOT Void Warranty!**

I talked with Verizon tech support about the battery pull tab and if they have any tips on getting the battery out, since I pulled it out before... and she told me that I could exchange for another Droid X. My new Droid X (hopefully new) will be arriving Tuesday or Wednesday. :D

I asked her explicitly if pulling out the battery pull tab voids warranty and she told me NO. She even joked around with me saying how they've had to send out a lot of replacements because a lot of people were calling in about that very same issue. She said that it was incorrectly labeled. That's why the Droid 2s have a different label for the battery pull. She was also giving me tips on how to get my battery out of my OLD Droid X into my REPLACEMENT Droid X.

It is classified as a warranty replacement.

THANK YOU VERIZON!

ahh you pull the tab off too vihzel? **slaps you on the wrist**

Yep. I thought what a lot of other people thought and believed it to activate the phone somehow.

NOTE: This is NOT a thread for people to come in and say "Oh you people who pulled it out are idiots." or "How can you be so stupid to pull out something like that? It's 'common sense'!"

Those types of comments will be viewed as being rude and reported.

Guys,

This is really important information. I will be sticking this for about a week, so we all can see it. After that, if a newbie freaks out about voiding the warranty, having pulled the pull tab, then all of us who know, can provide good info.

Thanks Steven! I know this will be a "THANK GOD!" moment for a lot of people as it was for me. :)

Oh, alright. I didn't actually read through that Android Central article much. I saw the title and skimmed it to make sure it was about the right topic, then linked it for anyone who wanted it. Good to know that if I screw up my phone I can just pull the tab and act on the warranty.

It's like a second chance tab from the phone Gods. :D

lol I guess that is a plus side... you'd only get one extra chance though.

Yeah... it's totally a gift that I lack.
LOL, well if you pulled on that thing and the fact that it is firmly glued on didn't make you doubt your self enough to stop, it makes me wounder? Unless you pulled if off hella fast like a band-aid on arm hair trying to minimize the pain for your new droid x child?. Just giving you a hard time LOL

And I just found it very amusing how you described this situation to only be understood by people with the "gift".

well, I didn't think it was a gift until the line formed on here of people who just pulled that thing off, "like it wasn't no thing"

It kinda reminds me of the road runner cartoon when they paint the yellow line to go into the fake tunnel and the road runner just fallows it

I guess the majority who didn't pull the tag off are all gifted as well... which would make the majority... gifted? That doesn't make sense.

You're using the word "gift" way too loosely. It's like how people overuse the term "miracle" to describe something that happens quite a few times per year. I know where you're getting at though.

wow they will send out a replacement for that? I did the same exact thing...then after i pulled it off I kind of looks wondering why would that need to be removed...stuck the battery in and then realized I was an idiot for pulling it off....I just taped it back on...I have yet to actually pull the battery but did test it after I taped it on and it works still :)

I'm getting the droid x in the next week or so. Someone mentioned the Droid having this tap also and I have no clue what this tab is. Anyone have a pic?

Thanks in advance

The Droid 2 has the same tab but with different wording due to this whole Droid X battery tab problem. I don't think the original Droid has the same tab. You definitely can't miss it once you open up the battery compartment.
