Why Android Will Beat iPhone and BlackBerry??

While many iPhone users are reporting high satisfaction, it doesn't matter for the long term. The Android platform will crush all other smartphones in both its sheer number of users and vendors.

Guys.... Let me just list down couple of the reasons why I think Android Will Beat iPhone and BlackBerry...

1. Android Rules the Market by Numbers

Sure, Google CEO Eric Schmidt self-servingly told Reuters that 200,000 Android handsets were selling every day.

2. More Selection and Promotions

The top five Android phones--Motorola Droid, HTC Droid Incredible, HTC EVO 4G, HTC Hero, and HTC Droid Eris--have numerous carriers, including Verizon Wireless, AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile, according to NPD. Because of the competition among carriers, promotions like Verizon's buy-one, get-one-free, and cut-rate prices will continue to play a significant role in the Android market.

3. More Room for Variety and Ideas

4. Android Is the Innovator

5. Android 2.2 Froyo: A Gift to Your IT Department

you forgot Flash and looking long term music store with simplified media to stream from home, also google has google apps which apple doesn't, I know it sounds repetitive, along with the AOSP and rom development.

Companies could actually use rom development to customize android to increase business production. As an example Best Buy is talking about making a table for in store use based off 2.2. While apple does do something similar with their stores, the use of google could be used in any business and even in academia

Explain how Froyo is a gift to the IT department. Explain how Android is more of an innovator than Apple.

Also, how do you beat out Apple when they have an easy to use phone that is very appealing to the masses? Their phone has a ton of developer support as well. It's not like you're comparing an Android phone with a dumb phone.

Android will outselll iphone because android is offered on many different kinds of devices, with new many new models released yearly and they are offered on multiple carriers. On top of that, many carriers offer "buy 1 get 1 free" deals.

flash has nothing to do with anything because most people dont care about it and wont even notice any difference in their browsing experience anyway. The iphone sells well because its a good phone all around --despite peoples perception of apple or steve jobs.

This, I like to know. As of now, Exchange, remote wipe are phone mfgr specific implementation. Cisco Group VPN authentication is nowhere to be found on Froyo. 2.2 Broke regular PPTP vpn for many Evo owners.

Again, things I like to know.

I also would like to know how you can clone/restore Android phones in batch mode. Something very important in IT.E.G. have a set of apps and hit a restore that pre-loads the apps already.
And how do you set up an Android phone without using Google services? E.G. No gmail account allowed on the phone for security.

no the iphone sells well because people buy what ever apple throws at them. They intentionally leave out features so when they included it in the future people need to switch to have it. The made ipod touch users buy OS 3 to enable bluetooth a 10 dollar fee, iphone 4 is the only one that can multitask without a jailbreak. You cant multitask on anything else even with ios 4. How hard is it to put a background image with applications instead of a black screen.

As for flash it will allow for video in the browser, flash games. but take your iphone 4 with your html 5 that everyone is starting to use...

its best not to generalize. The iphone sells well because its a good phone, and as an iphone 4 owner i can speak for myself. Ive never purchased an apple product other than an iphone. And the same goes for my friends and co workers that i know own an iphone as well. The iphone is a great phone and wouldnt be so popular if it wasnt--in the end it comes down to preference.

One thing I hear from some BB owners is the Desktop ActiveSync over USB is not good or non-existent on Android phones. Its better on the iPhone compared to Android from what I hear.

When that gets better....I think it will be tough for RIM to recover from lost market share. Android is on a roll now, but it can get better for business users.

I wonder how come the Inc does Exchange better than other Android phones. Is it a Sense UI thing?

On paper, yes, Android should beat iPhone (I won't even mention BlackBerry because RIM will kill itself by not reacting to market change quickly, just like Palm). But many people have forgotten one important fact.

Majority of the people bought the iPhone not because of the technology or performance. Keep in mind that most of the iPhone users do not use more than 50% of its functionality. They hardly consume any data according to a recent survey. They bought the iPhone simply because it is cool to carry one, and occasionally caress it with their index finger like a sissy. :)

That's why I keep saying this..... the Android phone manufacturers got to package their phones with better finish....like the HTC EVO and the Samsung Galaxy S. You cannot claim your devices to be high-end when they are made out of cheap plastic. Packaging is very important.

It depends on the company's security polices. Not every IT department is as restrictive, preload apps or require Cisco VPN support. Many use just Active Sync, or pin codes or support remote wipe or a combo of those etc. All of which can be done with TD on Android. Yeah of course Android is still immature compared to BB or even the latest iPhone 4 exchange capabilities out of the box, but with a little tweaking it can easily suffice for a lot of IT needs.

Here we go....

4. Android Is the Innovator
Since Android was developed by Google, many believe that it has a little more tech credibility than other operating systems, but that shouldn't be the only reason to buy an Android smartphone. The idea should be that Android is still relatively new and has some maturing and growing to do before it reaches its apex. Android is still not like the iPhone's walled garden, but it's becoming more functional and user-friendly.

5. Android 2.2 Froyo: A Gift to Your IT Department

No more worries about syncing with Microsoft Exchange, because it's all been ironed out with Android 2.2. The system's new security features, such as remote wipe for administrators, lock-screen timeouts, and minimum password settings, will put critics of previous Android handsets at ease.

The galaxy s line is extremely easy to use and is good looking and slimmer than the iphone, as for IT/companies, the could do something like Rom Manager and install it to system/app so its on eveyphone than for other apps do something like cyanogen did with gapps in cm 6 and just automate the process, I dont know too many phones that can do that.

So very true, I love the iPhone 4's aluminum and glass casing. When you hold it you know it feels high end. Holding my incredible, even that small plastic band can take away from the overall appearance.

I love the soft touch, I think even the iphone can use it on the back. But generally speaking, the materials of android phones do detract from their image. Good point

Hehe, ta for NOT generalizing there pal!

Out of curiosity what are you comparing it to that makes you think it is a great phone?

Dude, seriously, IT IS A PHONE! The only soft and silky thing you should ever desire to have in your hands is the touch of a good woman....;)

Well i guess i'm the opposite because i don't think any of the last few iphone is anything special as far as design, except for the original, the iphone4 they make sure you see a side shot of the steel trimming at all times but when you look at it straight forward its the same like all previous iphones.

Just remember when you are throwing around all those numbers You are comparing and counting all those manufacturers and cell companies against ONE PHONE and one company. If Apple would get off it's ass and make a Phone for all the different Cell providers there would be no Android or Blackberry.

And you say that heck look at it. it's the same Phone as the first one(on the outside).Problem is the Iphone was made correctly the first time and why change a winner. You just change the inside to be faster and better.

I will be waiting for the Iphone to come to Verizon and then it's bye bye BB.

Not every company has as stringent expectation as yours.

(Another one of those one-off scenarios eh?)

Cisco VPN - Can be done with a custom kernel + apk

Batch Restore - Can be done as long as all phones are the same model.

You can set up a Google phone without google services.. you just can't use the market or gtalk.

A smartphone is a tool, not a high maintenance girlfriend. To me, the perfect phone would be water/shock resistant like a good sportswatch. You shouldn't have to worry about your phone if it drops into the mud. Just pick it up, brush it off and you're good to go
