I keep reading about people in DFW getting 6+ mbps down but the best in houston I've gotten is around 2.5. I don't know why that is. My initial thought that if an area is in 4G then it should get comparable speeds. I've been all over houston and while 2.5 down is really nice, what is keeping the speed down? Is it a throttling of bandwidth to accommodate users over a wider physical area with some speed but not able to serve with what its capable of?

There are so many unknowns about 4G. Its hard to get a straight answer about anything regarding to it. I dive into any wimax article I find to learn more about how it works, talk to any tech I speak with about it, and theres nothing but a big ? at the end.

i am in north ft worth.. near you.

i have the overdrive 4G.. I dont get the big speeds.
best i get is near 2mb... and not stable connection.

Where at? I usually get over 2mb around the house and a bit higher towards the north Arlington area (where I spend a good amount of time). In the house, where I hear 4g isn't the best, I get a constant 2 bars. Best I can tell, though, is that 4g is pretty finicky and nearly identical situations can yield very different results.

bet ya'll lose in the first round of the playoffs!!!

meh. im just jealous. my 4G and my astros are inferior right now

I live in Frisco which is a northern burb of Dallas. At my house I will get anywhere from 1 bar of 4G with the fastest speeds around 6. I went to Houston and saw that my 4G signal was always full but my speeds were just scratching 2. I thought my speed test was wrong but apparently that's just how it is.

my parents live in n ft worth in alliance and 4g is spotty at best up there

I live in Keller and work at Alliance. The best 4G is down 377 by the corporate Sprint store.

while on lunch friday afternoon i got 15.345 down with 2 bars in coppell.

Using which test? Speedtest or Xtremelabs?

wow!! that would be great!!!
if stable in all DFW area! so they can all be jealous.

4G sucks in the north Fort Worth/Keller/Southlake area. I've done' the folowing 4G hacks and it is a little bit better.

Driving around last night down near the Sprint store I got almost 7mb using the Xtremelabs app. I probably need to play with the settings a little more. But it isn't like I can use 4G while driving.
