I have the OC patch that I need to flash, but I just don't know where to start with which folder to put it into or where and when to cut and paste. Everything I see comes down to "just flash the OC patch", but I guess that I just don't know which steps exactly are for flashing and not rooting. Can anyone help me get through this?
Thanks,

PC49,
I assume you got the patch from this thread (
Overclock Patch and update.zip - xda-developers) and read through all of Zanfur's notes? You'll need to register over at XDA in order to be able download files from there.
The patch you want, I believe, is called "
kernel-overclock-update-v3.zip (2.39 MB)" (
xda-developers) [MD5 sum: 99c41926fd4af73da9a41f43ce88c264]
You would flash this patch just like you would a custom ROM. Just make sure that you:
1. Download the patch and place it in the top-level directory of your /sdcard
2. Boot into Amon_RA's custom recovery
3. Make a Nandroid backup
4. Did you make a Nandroid backup?
5. Return to the main menu and select "Flash from sdcard"
6. Select the "
kernel-overclock-update-v3.zip" file that you previously downloaded
7. After finishing the flash, return to the main menu and reboot
Also, there's some scary warnings that Zanfur has in the thread regarding setCPU and making sure that the first thing you do is select the lowest speed and slowly go up from there. I haven't read anywhere of anyone that's done this having to do some of the things that Zanfur says in the thread, but your mileage may vary.
Remember, your Nandroid backup is your friend--always make a backup before doing something "scary"
