Help ONLY receiving Slideshow MMS from particular person??

Hello...

Weird occurrence here...

When I had 2.1 on my EVO I would occasionally get single picture MMS that I would receive as a "slideshow," however, when I would try to view the picture, it would open up in the slideshow mode or about HALF A SECOND then close. VERY ANNOYING.

Well, before I could try to fix the annoyance, I dropped my phone, sent it in for repair an 20 days later, got my EVO back. The slideshow half-second-opening was FIXED...matter of fact I was NOT receiving anything as a slideshow at all.

THEN, one day, my father (also on Sprint, using a Samsung Rant) sends me a SINGLE picture and it appears as a slideshow!! Well, the slideshow worked which is...well, OK...but the slideshow option I find QUITE annoying.

Is there any way to avoid this slideshow from coming up?? Any reason it is ONLY my father's MMS message that I receive in slideshow-only format??

BTW, I am using ChompSMS as my message app...

I think it is with the RANT. My wife had a rant, and the messages come in as a slide show the same way. I just had to get used to tapping the picture and hitting the pause.

She is now on a EVO and it has stopped.

My mother actually has a Rant as well...I'm gonna try to see if she has the same issue when she sends an MMS to me. I'll get back to you and whoever else might be wondering if it IS the Rant causing the problem...

This happens to me with my friends who have iphones. Whether it's a single pic or multiple pics I always receive them as slideshows. Really annoying when someone sends me three pics and I have to watch it as a slide show instead of it just showing up as three separate mms.

Had my Mom send me a picture from her Rant...same slideshow annoyance.

I wonder why a certain PHONE would trigger something on MY PHONE to view only in a slideshow mode...??

I don't like it...ANY workarounds??

Well heck, I just thought that is how the Evo worked. Whenever I send a pic using message, it converts to MMS Slideshow. This is from Evo to Evo. I am pretty sure most if not all pics i have received have come in as a slideshow, too.

How do we make the pics outgoing and incoming as pics not slideshows?

Your issue might be related to mine but "more than mine." It MIGHT depend upon what text messaging app you are using and settings. I am using a 3rd party app called ChompSMS and there are NO SETTINGS to turn off (OR turn on) the slideshow option.

I VAAAAGUELY remember that there might be a setting within other apps (like the stock Messaging app or other 3rd parties) where you can CHOOSE to receive messages as slideshow but I am unfamiliar with those and whether that is the case.

Check your settings in your own Messaging app or hopefully someone can help you more than me...

I just thought that is "the way it works". Hopefully someone know how to change that if it is an option. Very annoying to have to "pause" a snap shot to view it longer than a few seconds. And the extra steps to send a picture from the camera.

Now having ANOTHER issue that perhaps someone can help me with.

If you read above, it was told to me, and I confirmed, that indeed all messages i receive from my family's Samsung Rant phones come as slideshows EVEN IF one one picture. As I also said above, that is RATHER annoying but, well, ok...

Now here is my new thing...

When I receive two or more attachments from my father in law who HAD ANOTHER EVO (...that is EVO TO EVO) I get the multiple pictures as a SLIDESHOW. Not only is that annoying but the BIG PROBLEM is that the slideshow DOES NOT WORK!! You click the little ">" arrow to "play" and there is a 1/10 second FLASH of a picture...like a subliminal advertisement...and then NOTHING!! The slideshow does NOT WORK!!

The ONLY way to view ANY picture(s) is to either save to the SD card or forward to an email.

Anyone else have this "1/10 second flash slideshow" issue??

I found the reason of MMS slideshow and was able to recreate it multiple times.

Using iPhone 4 I created message with photo in this order:
1. Typed text
2. Inserted picture (regardless from photo gallery or take it while crating a message)
3. Press Send.

The message comes as slide show.

If I create message with photo in this order:
1. Inserted picture (regardless from photo gallery or take it while crating a message)
2. Typed text
3. Press Send.

The message comes as image with text below.

I don't know if this is intentional or not. I asked my wife to remember to attach image first, then type text.
