Static Screen Protector?

I'm currently using the phantom skinz line and although I like the body protectors I think the screen protector has reduced some of the screen's clarity/sharpness. This wasn't an issue with the static protectors I got from verizon. The only reason I replaced the verizon ones is because they didn't cover the buttons along the bottom of the screen. Anyone find a static protector they like that covers the whole screen?

yea I got 1 called amzer super clear protector from Amazon. this is vary clear so you can see screen properly

I second that bump, I too am looking for a clear static cling protector. The Amzer seems to check all the boxes but I too can't find any reviews.

Just to be clear I am talking about this one: Amzer Super Clear Screen Protector with Cleaning Cloth For Motorola - Motorola Droid A855 - Screen Protectors - Fommy.com

I have some questions I was hoping you could answer regarding the Amzer:

1. The photo shows it to but can you confirm that the Amzer fits the entire Droid screen from above the ear speaker to all the way below the bottom buttons?

2. How good is the fit?

3. How clear is it?

4. How durable is it? Some screen protectors like the Power Support I used to use on my iPhone seem to never scratch. Others like the one that came with my Sprint HTC Touch Pro 2 seem to mark up from regular finger use.

5. The description of it on the page I linked above states "Anti-Reflection Screen, free from Fingerprints, and dust repelling". How true are these claims?

6. Could you post some photos of the protector on the phone, and if you have one that is not installed of that too?

Thanks!

yup that's the one :)

may just sacrifice the $10 and hope it's decent. really the verizon ones were fine but they didn't cover the whole screen.
I have the Verizon one on my Droid now, only to protect it while I find something good. I find that they don't fit well and the decision to end it above the buttons is absolutely asinine. It's almost as if the person responsible for designing the VZW protector thought that the buttons couldn't work through a screen protector. Of course the buttons are capacitive just like the screen so that logic is very flawed.

I don't get it either. Doesn't seem to make a whole lot of sense.

To make matters worse ending it above the buttons results in a sharp edge from the edge of the screen protector. This looks absolutely awful and is a great place for dust and grime to accumulate, not to mention the added benefit of providing a convenient place to snag on things and lift the protector.

Anyone who has applied a well designed protector to a phone, such as the Power Support on the iPhone, knows that covering the whole screen has many benefits:

1. It just plain looks great and conceals the presence of a protector.
2. It protects the whole screen (imagine that?)
3. It is very unlikely to lift, peel, or get snagged on anything.

Not covering the buttons is one of the weirdest product design decisions I can recall ever seeing.

Guys, you might want to consider this as an alternative:

http://androidforums.com/motorola-droid/21429-boxwave-anti-glare-screen-protector.html

They have both a clear (called Crystal) and the Anti-Glare versions - plus, it's reusable, and plus it covers the keys. Waiting on Blazing to report back on how well it works....

These ^ are the best static protectors I have ever used, hands down. Although I have a strong prefrence for the Crystal ones over the anti-glare.

Thanks for the opinion, one that I have heard echoed from many people regarding this product. Have you specifically used these on the Droid?

No I have not used them on the Droid. But I have used them on almost every device I have had in the last several years including my iPod touch and they work great. Really easy to install and its damn near impossible to have any bubbles when you are done.

If you get the Crystal ones , they have 99% optical clarity , and it really shows. You will see significant loss in clarity if you get the anti-glare ones.

Again thanks for the information. I have another question for you; Is the fit of this protector typically excellent? I'm hoping to find a protector that fits just about, if not perfectly.

Thanks for that opinion, GMB - that was exactly what I wanted to know, I was unsure which to go for - now I know I'll be kicking myself for eternity if I get the anti-glare one.

According to the picture on the left hand side on the links that I posted in the post that I linked to (confrused yet :p) it shows total coverage, and the reviews for other products using this particular protector do not show anyone complaining on other products about the fit.

Still, I am going to wait for Blazing to get his before I order mine.

The fit has always , and I mean every single one I have ever purchased, been a perfect fit. I am using a Phantom Skinz on my Droid right now because I used it on my TouchPro2 full body and screen and really liked it. I was disappointed with it on the Droid. There are several markings, around the edges mostly, and it is very much too small ALL the way around the edges. I noticably comes up short on all the edges. This was only my second Phantom Skinz purchase and its now officially 1 for 2...

er, 1 for 2? Yeah, with the DROID having more angular features (did I just say that out loud?) and with it being a two piece, those body skins are going to be a lot harder to apply than to unibody devices like the iPhone....

That was my ultimate reason when I was considering trying one of those PS / IS / GA skins to decide against the use of them.

I am the ultimate perfectionist, and don't trust anyone else to achieve a perfect fit, so I'd do it myself - and would waste hours upon hours trying to get it just right.

Sounds great, I think I'll give these a shot on the screen and also order one of these for the rest of the device:

Motorola Droid Skin

I previously used a BSE on my iPhone for everything but the screen and the fit was great.
