Bluetooth and WIFI dead

I had an HTC Desire delivered yesterday, and I used the system update to install 2.2

Everything seemed to work perfectly for 24 hours, but this evening the device is coming up with "Error" when you try to connect to wifi, and it also refuses to switch on bluetooth at all.

Does anyone know if this is a 2.2 issue (and therefore likely to be fixed in an update), or if this is a problem that has been around for a while and the phone is knackered? I have seen posts by people with similar issues which predate the 2.2 release, but it can be hard to tell if they were running the official software or not.

I want to avoid installing anything that may invalidate the warranty.

Any advice would be appreciated.

As long as you installed the OTA update then you are fine with warranty etc...
My first suggestions would be to try a restart, and if that doesn't work then shut it down, remove the battery, wait 5 mins then replace and switch on.

Failing that seeing as the phone is so new you could try a factory reset and see if that helps.

Was it a brand new sealed desire or one that was debranded? I used the OTA update yesterday on a debranded desire which caused the wifi not to work and also it kept rebooting.

It was a brand new unbranded desire. A factory reset did not help, and after speaking to HTC, they have advised me to return it to the retailer for a replacement rather than get a warranty repair.

Since I am going to be overseas for the next month or so starting next week, it looks like I am going to need to return it and get a refund, as with the stock shortages I don't think I would get a replacement before I leave.

After the 2.2 update my wifi worked fine but my GPS went crazy and I had loads of reboot problems, there must be something wrong with the software surely??
