Most of us probably use wireless tether when away from home, in a public place. Since wireless tether on the Hero doesn't support WEP, how do you prevent others from connecting to your hotspot? I was running wireless tether and somebody jumped onto the network and I didn't know how to boot him/her off.

in setup it should say "Enable WiFi-Encryption" and go from there
Did you read my post? Do you have WEP + a working wireless tether on your CDMA Hero?

Why does WEP-encryption not work on my phone?

Wireless interfaces of almost all HTC-devices which are sold by HTC (these devices are coming with the so called "Sense" user interface) don't seem to support WEP-encryption in ad-hoc mode. We developers don't have such devices available for testing. So, if you have found any solution regarding this problem - please let us know.

I wonder if WEP works on CM6 since it is Sense-less? Anyone try this?

well, my findings were different. i applied wep, connected, and it asked me for the key, which i provided, however, no network access. if i disable wep, no issues browsing or anything. it has access control, not sure how well it works but you could enable it and i believe that if you don't grant a computer access they can't browse or anything, but i'm no expert for sure. i've used wireless tether 2 times officially now.
