Hi... I want to change the sound I hear when receiving a SMS message. I have successfully downloaded the BB sonar sound that I want to use.

I can't find the place to set the custom tone.

I see the list that the dx provides but no custom option.

Am I missing something that is right in front of my eyes?

Thanks for your help...

-Steven

Place the notification audio file on your SD card in a folder named, "Notifications," without the punctuation. The phone should then recognize the custom files when you go to select a different tone.

Let us know if this works for you. If it doesn't, you may have to put the Notifications folder into another folder named, "Media," but I don't think you need to.

EDIT:
open up your text messages and click the menu button then you can customize your sms sound there :)
It seems that he already can see the current list of default selections, but he cannot see his custom tones that he's attempting to use. Correct me if I'm wrong, Steven.

Download ringdroid from the market, open it and it will find all your audio on your phone. Select the file you want, select the entire clip in the editor, then hit save (the disk icon at the bottom) then select save as notification. It will save everything properly and it will show up in your tones you can choose from.

I use ringdroid to make all of my tones, notifications, and alarms.

Paycer.... You were correct. I created Notifications on the SD card and placed the sonar file inside the folder and it now appears in the list.

Thank you. Exactly the direction I was looking for....
You're welcome. Please note that if your SD card is not inserted or isn't mounted, the phone will not be able to play the notification when it attempts to do so. It will most likely play a random notification tone and/or vibrate.

I am looking for help with changing the SD card notification because that is the notification that plays when powering the DX on/off. I put my custom audio in wav format in the Notifications folder on my SD card. I even chose the file from Settings>Sound & Display>Notification Ringtone. but when powering on/off it does not play the file i made. when changed to a stock file it does play those. Does the audio file i created go into a different folder? should the file be a different format like ogg? wav or mp3 is what i used previously but should the format matter? what format are the stock notifications?

Not rooted

Thanks for any help!

I have both ringdroid and zedge, use zedge most of the time, more simple and better interface
