Root Any ROMs that correct the AAC+ audio issues?

Have any ROMs been released yet that address the codec problems regarding AAC+ playback (notably within the Slacker and Pandora apps)?

I have tried a few FRG22 ROMs and haven't found one that fixes the playback problems in Slacker. I have also tried disabling Stagefright through the build.prop file, and this seems to have no effect on audio quality.

I'm desperately trying to find a fix for this problem. I'm about to downgrade to 2.1 again, but it will be tough after seeing how smooth and responsive 2.2 is in comparison!

its fixed in CM6 RC3 and I think the newest Sapphire but I havent tried it on Sapphire

Also supposedly fixed in SS 4.7. I'm on BB v0.4 so I haven't tested it but it's in the release notes. On a side note...I have yet to have any issues with Pandora or Slacker even though it's a well documented bug in the code. Odd.

I basically agree. I have yet to see ( or hear ) any FROYO ROM that sounds as good as a 2.1 ROM on my phone....

There are two different ways to "fix" the audio quality in Froyo:

1) Change the /system/build.prop file to default back to OpenCore instead of Stagefright (this works, but at the sacrifice of Quadrant scores)

2) Apply the Stagefright fix from Google which actually solves the issue instead of working around it.

Both methods work on Sapphire 1.0.0, just remember to undo the /system/build.prop hack before applying the Google Stagefright fix.

There is also a full system level equalizer available for Froyo that gives you the ability to enable DRC and/or a 5 band EQ.

I recently downloaded Chevy SS 4.7 and it also solves the AAC+ issue. I did apply and test the patch written by the guys who create Sapphire over Pete's FRG01b rooted ROM and it worked as well.

I don't know why, but the Chevy build seem to have a little better sound quality than the FRG01b + the Sapphire patch when on 3G. I guess they might be different since they are intended for ROM's other than stock FRG01b....

I had the equalized installed, but it dissappeared when I loaded SS 4.7. I'll figure out how to get it loaded back on....

I have tried Pandora and Slacker. Both still sound terrible. Maybe everyone's ears aren't sensitive enough to notice that music is being played back at what seems to be a reduced sampling frequency.

I have also tried manually disabling Stagefright in Android 2.2. That does not seem to work either.

I just downgraded to Android 2.1, and Slacker sounds great again over a 3G connection. I guess I'll have to give up Flash support in order to keep streaming audio support.

Better battery life? Ss 4.6 already had best battery life of any rom I've tried, and 4.7 so far seems to continue that trend

On *your* phone....and it may hold true with his phone as well.

But it is not necessarily true on every phone. There are so many variables affecting battery life (on my phone, more than 266 in just apps alone) that it is pretty hard to say it has the best battery life without including the "on my phone / for me" part.
