how to transfer apps to sd card?

first, you can't move all apps to the SD card. Only select ones that the dev's coded the ability to do so. And of course, you can't do the system apps, but no bother there.

of the maybe 100 apps I have about 20 or so can be moved. It can be done in settings > apps > manage apps > long press an app to see if it can be moved

BUT better yet, if your not rooted, buy MyBackup Pro - a real life saver & so worth the price of admission to make backups - and backup all of your apps + data and phone settings. That is the way to best do it.

Learned something new - thanks. Just moved about 10 apps over to SD card. While in apps, I opened each one, cleared caches, and moved if possible. Hoping to see better battery use.

What about the apps that changed and but still give you certain perks?
Like Shazam; they changed and the free version gives you a limited amount of uses per time period but they mention if you have tagged before the certain date you still get unlimited tags?

I just did a factory reset yesterday to try and fix battery issues on my Droid (with 2.2 OTA installed) and some settings are retained, like unlimited free tagging in Shazam (I had tagged prior to July 13, I think, which was the cutoff date for unlimited free tagging). It must have either linked to my Google account or saved a file to the SD card (which is not wiped during a factory reset).

wierd, nothing hapened when i signed in. but i ended up going back to verizon to replace my phone with a brand new one instead of a refurb (i was within 30 days) and they gave me a droid 2 instead and when i signed in ht downloaded all my old apps.

What! how?
so you got the refurb in the mail; brought it to the store and said it didnt load the stuff again and they gave you a 2??
