Help Switching to X...can someone answer 2 questions for me?

Hey guys, I just convinced Verizon to send me an X to replace my second Inc due to horrendous voice quality issues. Hopefully this switch works out because I was very impressed with the unit I tested a few weeks ago.

Anyway, there's 2 questions I need answers for and was hoping someone could help me out.

1) Is the standard battery good enough to get through a days usage with heavy call volume? My phone is for business purposes and I'm on it a lot....several hours each day. My Inc never makes it through the day. Do I need an extended battery or will the OEM unit be fine?

2) When using the GPS, does the voice prompt switch over to your BT headset if you're in a call? I LOVE Google Maps, but the voice prompts come through my headset during a call and are extremely loud and distracting. Does the X do this as well? If not, I might be able to return the Garmin that I just bought (and hate) and go back to using the amazing Google Maps again.

To answer number one.. The stock battery should get you through the day...today after the 2.2 update I got 18 hours of use. Makeing calls web text and music...so if ur not a heavy user you should be good....

I can't answer number 2 cause I don't be really using the gps....

Question for Qu3st, where did you the the 2.2 update for your Droid X? When I check for updates, I get "no update necessary at this time"

2nd, topshelf said he was a heavy call user. I'm not so sure he could make it through a whole day of constant calling. He might though. But, I would get the extended battery (the 1840mAh) and use it keeping the standard battery as a back-up, just in case. Seidio says they're working on a 3500mAh battery but haven't seen it for sale yet. That one would definately get you through the day but would make the phone thicker and heavier.

I also can't answer Tops 2nd question with any degree of certainty. I have taken calls when using my GPS (I have a Jabra SP700 and route my calls thru my car stereo) but haven't had any voice turn instructions when on the call. I don't know if that's because there weren't any, or if my "X" blocked them out because I was in a call.

Edit: I see now, it's a leaked 2.2, not the pushed one.

I'm patiently/impatiently waiting for the release of Android 2.2!

Thanks guys. I ordered the OEM extended battery last night since it barely adds any size to the phone and should give me a little more life. Extra battery can't be a bad thing.

Still curious about question number two. I won't have the X until Wednesday, so if anyone has a chance to test it out that would be great. The reason I'm asking is because I am 95% complete on making a deal with a VW GTI forum member for his OEM in-dash nav system. If I can save that cash and use the X that would be great, especially since Google Maps is so ridiculously good. I bought a Garmin a week ago to try to replace it and it's a joke.

Google maps GPS prompts do not come through the bluetooth headset for me.

I finally talked VZW into doing the same for me and have not missed the DInc for a single second. People talk about how large the X is but I don't notice it being a problem and I have small hands. I love the DX and have been able to do much more with it than the DI. Things that never worked on my DI work perfectly on the DX (like external BT keyboard). I really feel HTC was dishonest in selling the DI with "2.1" because the BT stack on it is actually from 1.5/1.6 because the 2.0 BT stack with all the improvements somehow was incompatible with SenseUI.

1. Coming from a DI myself, you will definitely have better battery life with a DX. I probably don't make as much calls as you, but I did have a 2 1/2 hour call which took me from 93% > 89% (using battery left widget to get 1% decrements). With that said, you may not need an extended battery, but having one wouldn't hurt either. I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

2. This same issue happen to me once, and yes it is very loud and annoying while you're trying to hear someone talk. I asked Verizon CSR about this and they said, if your BT device has A2DP support, then it is possible to hear navigation commands through the earpiece. They go on to say, when connecting your BT device to your phone, under BT settings (from home screen, press hard menu key > settings > wireless & networks > bluetooth settings) it will show you what device your DX is connected to and whether it is connected to phone audio, media audio, or both. If you long press on the device that is connected to your phone, a sub menu will popup, choose options, and you will be able to select what audio is transmitted through you BT device.

The odd thing for me is, I'm using a Jawbone II which does not have A2DP support, so I don't know why it did that. I also have a BT Rocketfish stereo headphone, that has A2DP support, I tried using that while navigating to replicate the issue, it didn't happen and everything worked fine. Go figure.

Thanks teknonoob! That's great info. Printed and ready to test this out. Going to seem like forever waiting for Wednesday to get here. Hope I don't accidentally throw my Inc into a brick wall in the meantime.

That I'm not sure about. Like a previous poster said I think it depends on your device and whether it is "phone audio" or "media audio".
