Earlier, Early Upgrade Possible?

It seems (based on posts around the time of the X launch) that some people managed to get their Early Upgrade and or NE2 pushed up to get the X.

Has anyone more recently ,either by going to Corp Store or by calling, been able to talk them into moving it sooner?

I'm not due for my Early Upgrade until December 22 and was wondering what my chances were.

I wonder if they were to do it then let me order it online so I could use some of those coupon codes to knock a few more bucks off?

yeah, i wouldnt count on it. you signed a 2 year contract only 8 months ago. good luck, though! i hope you end up talking to the right person.

Actually I've been under contract on this phone for over a year. MY 2 years is up in April/2011.

I do realize it my not be possible until closer to the Early Upgrade date (if at all). I probably won't attempt until September or October.

oh, i see. an "early upgrade" is an upgrade at 12 months. NE2 is an upgrade at 20 months. so, you must not be eligible for early upgrade. that said, it is possible. it all depends on the person you talk to. there is no policy that allows you to upgrade 4 months before your normal upgrade date, but it is all up to the manager making the decision.

I like this thread because i work at verizon customer service haha... it all depends on the person you talk to... make up an excuse about your phone not working and what not lol, if you have good payment history and have been a customer for awhile they might move it. I do anyway

if you like this thread, you'll love the "how long do you think for shipment?" thread. i work for verizon too (but i work in the corporate office). it'll make you crazy. people dont understand that the only real tool CS has is the DFill schedule on infomanager, and that there is really no other way to determine the exact date a phone will ship.

Why don't you make it easy for me, just PM me your extension, lol.:D J/k Having worked in CS Before (not VZW) I realize you probably don't have an extension accessible by customers.

Edited to add:

Well my Omnia HAS been crashing more often lately.

I can say you will be able to get the early upgrade....that's what I did. My NE2 was not up until March 2011, so I called CS and told them I was hearing about some promotion for early upgrade to a 3G smartphone until 8/31. A few minutes later after being placed on hold, the rep got his manager to setup my account for an early upgrade and I went online to order the Droid X (to get the instant rebate).

Well I got shot down @ the corp store. The girl didn't even try. But hey if I didn't already have a smartphone it wouldn't have been a problem.

I've always been told that calling CS (Customer Support, aka *611) will yield better results as they have more authoritative power compared to a corp store.

Give them a call and see what happens.

I was desperate to get out of my BB storm as early as possible. My one year anniversary was at the end of September. I tried calling CS many many times, and was shot down. Tried an email, and that was even worse! Finally I got someone on the phone who I was able to persuade to let me upgrade early. It took a lot of polite begging. I reported many many problems with my storm and it helped that it had been replaced a few months prior.

Dont give up and be very very polite on the phone. Its only a matter of time before you get someone who is willing to work with you.
