Are there any cases available for phones with slide out keyboards? And if so, has one been designed for the Epic yet? At this point I think I'd go with some sort of screen protector, and Samsung's leather pouch case.

Also I'm not sure if the Epic plus some sort of case, or even without a case, would fit in a side pocket, so maybe the leather pouch attached to your belt is the way to go. All my other phones have been small flip phones that easily fit into a side pocket. This will be my first smart phone, so I'm wondering what others have come up with for a good protection strategy?

ebay: epic case
they come in 2 pieces and most descriptions say sliding works. i want to figure out something today too so i can have it for release day :)

Is this the one you're talking about?

I ordered an $8 clear one on ebay just to have something to put on it from day #1. Usually the good ones start coming out about a month after launch. I have been looking for screen protectors and have not found any yet.

Amzer Rubberized Black Snap On Crystal Hard Case For Samsung, Samsung Epic 4G - Cases - Fommy.com

I prefer hard cases because every once in awhile I accidentally pulled out my debit card, license, and whatever cash was in my pocket with my covered BlackBerry. Hard cases dont grip items in pocket and pull them out, but I do prefer how they feel in hand when using the phone. I can get used to a hard case feel though.

I just bought this case.

Yeah - I can't decide between the one you ordered, the clear, or the blue. The rubberized one you linked to looks really nice also - I'll probably end up looking for a holster - so it should be OK. But, it doesn't ship until the 9th. . . .

While I hope that none of these manufacturers would miss the obvious...

It is not absolutely clear that there is a slot in these cases for the keyboard.

I stared at these pictures for a while, and I'm not certain I see a slot for the keyboard.

These come in two pieces. The bottom piece cover the keyboard bottom, and the top piece covers the top.

I'm a bit hesitant of these hard cases I see on Ebay from aplusacc. The reason being that if the case comes up the edge of the screen, it makes it hard to make selections on the edge without bumping into the shell case. I had one on my Samsung Instinct and had to toss it, too annoying. I'm hoping for a case that covers the back and maybe edge, and letting a screen protector take care of the front. Anyone know if Epic has a glass or plastic screen?

all of the two piece cases have little clasps that hook on the underside of the case and put a slight gap between the two halves of the phone putting stress on the sliding mechanism. Maybe some more than others. I just can't stand those two piece cases. They make the phone feel less than solid, and all seem to be bulky from the few I tried with my Moment. I'll take a nice belt clip holster. If it's not in a pocket it's in the holster. The phone is just much nicer to use when it's sans those two piece cases, IMHO.
Someone in one of the non-accessory threads said that he got a case for the Moment - and that screwed up the slide mechasim. I sure as $%^@ hope not!!!

i agree. in this one instance, i'd get a zagg for just the back piece and go naked the rest of the phone. it's gorilla glass so no need for a screen protector. this phone is made to be viewed without a case. it's so sexy :D
