Root Hey everyone. New to the Inc. but not new to Android.

this is the rom i am using. skyraider 2.5.2 with sense and some other tweaks. all in rom manager
[ROM] Sky Raider 2.5.2 [Sense or Vanilla!!!] UPDATED: 08/12/2010 - xda-developers

First and foremost thanks for the tip. Secondly, is there a link on how to update the radio? I've read that you must update the radio baseband first before updating the ROM. This was the case with my D1.

I tried this link:
Howto: HTC Droid Incredible Leaked Froyo 2.2 Update - Technology - Jonamerica.com
but it didn't help.

since your coming from the droid, im sure you want to use a stock vanilla rom. i would say that if you dont need a camcorder, go with cm6. droid does is the next fasted vanilla one but is a bit buggy with the camcorder as well, it takes a bit of tweaking to get 720p working, but if you dont mind doing that it is great. both those come with their own kernel and you wont need to bother with that. adrynalyne's roms are very fast and clean as well and are posted on this site, i've never personally tried any of them, but i have heard very good things about them. i personally use the aiccucs v4.2lite rom because it already has all the customizations and tweaks i like, where as a good number of the other roms are just plain stock and you gotta add all the patches and crap yourself. Skyraider seems like one of the most commonly used roms and is very tried and true, so you cant really go wrong with that either. but it is pretty much stock 2.2 from what it looks like with a few little tweaks here and there. and of course theres always the stock 2.2 leaks that you can use and just add all your mods and tweaks yourself if you like.
oh and if you run unrevoked forever and get s-off, then flashing the newest radio (which is 2.15) just takes a simple PB31IMG.zip loaded in bootloader. this will allow to to run all froyo roms with all features working; otherwise things like gps/bluetooth/camcorder wont work.
and there are two main types of kernels, hydra kernels are super stable and come in stock speed undervolt and various overclocked versions (to 1.15ghz). there is also a new kernel out by king klick which sounds a lot better but has only been out for a few days so it isnt as tried and true. i personally like both and you cant really go wrong with either

well it'll be hard to find since most of the info is on xda and the site is down tonight. here is the link to all the info. basically s-off is the same thing as full nand unlock, it allows you to write to /system without being in recovery. it also allows the flashing of radios and such and changing the boot splash screen (thing that said htc incredible)

oh and what the whole /system thing means is, rom manager actually works 100% and you can use it to manage nand backups and roms/recovery, you can update the adfree hosts file while booted, and you can remove bloatware while booted and a bunch of other stuff. to do it you just download the .zip and flash it from recovery. takes like a min
