Hey guys, doing my best not to panic here.

Decided to go ahead and root my droid. Did so, installed latest version of liquid frozen yogurt, and everything worked great. Then I decided to install the smoked theme. Here's where it hit the fan:

Installed the theme according to directions. Upon repoot, was met with some crazy error popups that made no sense in any language I know. Restarted, and then my droid keeps looping at the red eye screen--back to the DROID animated logo, then back to red eye.

Ok, so I see other people have had similar errors. I do some research and decide to use RSD lite to flash my phone back to stock.

Well, here's the problem. RSD does not "see" my phone, even though I've installed the necessary USB drivers.

I can get into recovery.

Please help me! You will have my undying thanks.

Assuming you've actually connected the phone to the USB cable, and followed the instructions to boot into the bootloader (where you see nothing but white text on a black background):

Once you connect the USB the text should say USB on it. At that point, load RSDLite.

Also, you might want to try RSDLite 4.7 from Peter Alfonso - it's newer and it has worked flawlessly for me on Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit.

Finally, you are clicking on the device #1, right?

Well, I can tell you right off the bat that you applying the update it didn't go through, most likely the first time you applied it. I can tell because you mentioned the Droid eye loading and loading. Problem is, LfY doesn't use the stock droid boot animation and its a blue icon with animated rings surrounding it.

I also haven't seen anyone else mentioning any error like this caused by the LfY theme...so this topic should be titled, "Please help I broke my phone" Not trying to sound like a jerk, but all of this stuff is fairly safe if you follow directions listed on these forums exactly.

I'm so glad i did it the ole fashion way with rsd lite. Sounds like easy root is more trouble than its worth.

I think the real problem is thus: people that didn't really have any business using SU access had a quick, easy way to do what they normally would be too uninformed/lacking ability to do. I personally rooted two Erii, and one Droid the good, old-fashioned way. However, those three devices failed me, and upon getting my 2nd Droid, I was had no access to a computer, and quite frankly, I didn't really want to go through it again, so I used EasyRoot. It has worked well for me, so no complaints here ;)

I have to say that I am experiencing the same problem and I didn't install the smoke theme I installed the blueberry theme. Just because something doesn't happen to you doesn't mean it can't happen to anyone else.

OK, well this sort of makes sense as the exact same thing happened to me when I used Easy Root. I returned my phone to stock and the next time used Universal Androot and applied LFY 1.41. When my phone boots up I still get the flashing eye. Am I still incorrrect? Do I need to start over?

It sounds like its not sticking at all, the custom rom I mean. LfY has the custom boot animation which looks exactly like I mentioned in my last post. There is a really good post here about how to root from scratch using RSDLite. Its what I used and a LOT of the people I've seen using Easy Root have been having problems.

Its best to just follow the directions with the guide posted here, sure it takes maybe 10 minutes longer but I can tell you everything went perfectly fine when I rooted my phone. Sorry if I sounded like a jerk in my last post, its just a lot of people blame people who help other rooters with custom rom's when most of the time its an overlooked direction or taking the easy way out (easy root) to root their phones.
