You may not have been gradfathered in, but the 20 bucks is a grandfathered option, that they offered you. PS...there is also an unlimited 5 dollar data plan.

PS...I kinda laughed about the battery thing, if t-mobile gives out free batteries to everyone they will go out of business. Let us know if it works though.

Those battery's dont cost them jack but charge you $49 for it in their store. It isnt going to break them. And i was using the $5 data plan on my iPhone.

well samsung doesn't give the batteries to t-mobile for free, so it does cost them something, however i'm all for it, let us know if it works.

Unlocked iPhone on t-mobile I assume? Well that sucks you can't use the 5 buck data on vibran-too bad the vibrants imei is blocked for the 5 buck data. you know, you could have done what the poster of this thread did. find an unlocked captivate, and get unlimited t-mobile data for 5 bucks on your captivate, lol!

I am hoping my ebay battery works better today after it ran down and being recharged. There are batteries on ebay for cheap straight from Hong Kong. Mine was $3.27 and they have deals for two batteries with a wall charger for $13.00. Some saying they are working well. Im conducting my test today after it charges up again.

Here is one that is even cheaper http://cgi.ebay.com/2x-1500mah-BATTERY-CHARGER-Samsung-Vibrant-T959-/110576520664?pt=PDA_Accessories

those are conterfiet batteries, lol just because it says samsung on it, doesn't mean its really a samsung battery!

I think you mean "counterfeit," lol, and perhaps they are, I didn't realize that was a seller outside of the US. In the US it would be very, very risky to sell counterfeit goods on ebay. The FBI or local law enforcement would be all over it.

If they work fine then counterfeit or not, who cares. It is $4.75. You want to pay $49 at T-Mobile for the same battery, then have at it. I bet that is where T-Mobile gets them.

In fact i have some friends that own a iPhone repair store in Sacramento and they get ALL their parts from China and or Hong Kong. From th digitizer, the glass right on down to the camera and batteries. Afterall, that is where iPhones are made.

Our phone is made in Korea so i dont get the worry.

ummm thanks for correcting my obvious spelling mistake. also ebay is full of counterfeit products, especially counterfeit prada, louis vutton, ray bans, etc, yes all from USA sellers.

Additionally, if you had not heard, Assurion insurance company was giving customers counterfeit Blackberry batteries, they recently got caught.

Also the FBI have better things to do, and local law enforcement in many counties are strapped for cash. That is why in many counties the PD is closing down, due to lack of funding, and sherif is taking over, since their overhead costs are less. Trust me, the local law enforcement can't afford to police ebay.

Anyways, that is getting off topic, but if you believe the 4 dollar hong kong battery is really a samsung, thats your choice to believe so.

and how do you exactly know if its counterfeit?

You dont know but it is a battery and Samsung makes more than just that go in the phone itself. All these battery's are made in the same country and for $4, ill give it a try instead of paying $49 in our ripoff stores here in the USA.

Oh and my battery life App says it is running at 3707 mV & 87.8 degrees at the moment. It does fluctuate some.

I think that's a good idea. Some of the best batteries I've ever purchased have come directly from China. I bought them directly from a manufacturer that makes custom lithium ion batteries.

When you receive the new one, compare it to the original that came with the Vibrant and please post your findings. For $5 delivered how wrong can you go?

I don't think you can know 100%, especially without a close examination of the original and the Hong Kong version.

Agree and my original and other look exatly the same except the the original is more grey and black and the ebay one is more white and black.

Original says G9, new one says G7. Specs, writing, where made and whatnot is all the same. Only difference is the G numbers, and S/N and date made. Original was made 7/2/10, ebay one was made 6/28/10.

Yesterday it didnt do real well but i got it right out of the box and it was at 64% and i charged it up from there and used it. Was at 40% whe i went to bed and i left it on and this morning it was dead. Charged it up from dead and turned it on at noon and it is at 43% right now but im going to let er die again and charge it again.
Thats what the T-Mobile people told me to do so after the second one it is supposed to be better. It is a little better today than yesterday since ive used it more today than i did yesterday.

So tomorrow night ill have a better indication after using it all day as normal during work which is where imo will be my indicator of use for me.

OK, i may have an issue. When it went to about 30% it just shut off and when i plugged it in and see where it was at thru the settings, it just said battery critically low. So it may shut off on me at work which i dont want.

EDIT** Battery life App says it is 1%,,,Hmmm, well for $3.27, it is a spare. Ill call T-Mobile soon and try and get another.

That's not good. Thanks for the update. I guess you get what you pay for. Even so, just to rule out a defective battery you may want to contact the ebay seller and see what, if anything, they are willing to do. What are his ratings?
