Posting for a mate because he's too lazy... :)

He's set up his gmail and work mail on the phone just fine, but his hotmail is playing silly buggers. The gmail is through that app, the work and hotmail through the desire mail app.

Anyway - he cannot get any hotmail emails into the inbox. When you first set up the account, he gets two 'welcome' mails - the kind you get when you set up the mail account online, welcoming you to your inbox. No other emails ever come through.
However - he can send from it. And it appears in his outbox online.

I looked in the syncing sections and under the exchange active sync - which works for his work - there is no hotmail. Except somehow it must sync somehow as it's sending his hotmail fine...

:S

halp?

My hotmail isn't under my account sync section either.

Go to the mail widget and look at the settings. What does he have set up regarding push frequency?

He went to the widget and looked for the settings, but couldn't actually see anything that said push frequency.

He's said: "in send & receive thre is schedulei have set as 15 mins"

Is that what you mean?

Works with my Hotmail.co.uk Set up and sent a gmail email and refreshed,. It arrived.

Grr. Annoying. It seems to be the error that the last few comments in that link are experiencing. Think it could be because he already has his work email set up on that widget? Can it only handle one account despite having an option for more?

the mail app sucks beacuse gmail uses imap (yay!) whereas hotmail uses pop (boo!). Gmail allows perfect syncing between mail clients and gmail itself. Emails can come as they are actually sent to you, deleting mail or moving mail to folders is reflected on gmail itself on a computer too.

Pop however is very limited and difficult (with hotmail, near impossible) to reflect the same. You can view new emails by manually refreshing for mail, but deleting mail doesn't always work and you can pretty much forget about moving mail between folders.

I used to have the gmail app and the mail app (for my hotmail) on my main screen. Instead I now have the gmail app and a dolphin browser HD shortcut straight to mobile internet hotmail so that I am accessing my hotmail directly and can delete, move etc as normal. This really is the best way.

How come this used to work, but in recent weeks it has failed? About a week or so ago, I was receiving emails ok through the mail app, using hotmail. Then as a security measure, hotmail logged me out on my work pc. When I set everything up again, it went t'ts up.

I no longer receive updates as per the schedule I set it for, I receive no notifications in the menu bar, nor alert sounds. What's happened?!

I tried deleting the account and setting up manually, and some emails came through from earlier today, but STILL the schedule's not working.

Most annoying:(

Right now, I managed to get my hotmail updating again. NOT too sure exactly what I did, but I believe this problem may have something to do with the setup of the Advanced Task Killer app that I am using. I added several updates to the app, and set the security level to 'medium', ie, more processes would be 'killed'...perhaps this stopped the mail schedule working??

when I then changed the security level on task killer to 'high', turned the phone off for a bit, restarted, and hey presto, started to download mail to the schedule I needed.

I can't be certain that this is the reason why it started working again, but it may be worth a look if you are using Advanced Task Killer:)

hope this works for others:)

Experiencing some odds ... I can receive my hotmails using Wi-fi - but as soon as I turn that down and use Mobile Networks it can't - anything to do with the Mobile Network .. NOT .. gmail runs smoothly on both Wi-fi & Mobile Network .. considering the solution to forward all hotmail to Gmail ... but then again .. damn ..... anyone know how to fix this problem?

appreciated
