Epic 4G for $200 shipped from Amazon.com

activation is $18 I believe. it just changed from ships in 8-9 days to 9-10 days
This is rather ambiguous.. from my family plan checkout on Amazon:

"
Sprint 2-year Contract (One-time $36 activation fee applies to each line of service.)
(No Charge: Included with Sprint's Monthly Rate Plan)
"

So why even mention it if there's no charge?

Sheesh! I can't even see the final checkout review page without submitting the credit background check. I just want to see if the activation and/or taxes show up on the final page, but I'm not going risk Amazon doing the credit check first.

The Best Buy website is still showing $249. I called my local store and they thought it was still going to be $249. I certainly hope everyone is right and Sprint has decided to lower this bad boy to $199 because of low presales and the obvious backlash they have received in some early reviews for setting the price at $249. I guess I will have to wait and see...

Sprint isn't going to lower the price for months. Best buy isn't going to lower their price either. This is one of the best smartphones, if not the best smartphone, on the market. They would be crazy to lower the price for it before the phone has even been released. You might be able to find the epic on some online retailers for $199.99 shortly after the release but certainly not Best Buy or Sprint (and those prices will probably only be for new sprint customers). Sprint's preorders are all sold out... Why would they lower the price...? The phone is going to be $249.99 at Best Buy and Sprint! PERIOD

Amazon still has the deal. I just bought 2, just click the link in the first post.

Says it won't ship until Sept 8 or 9th though. Still, I can wait a week to save $100 and to not have to deal with mail in rebates.

I'm switching from Verizon.

It starts counting down from today. So it ships the 31st, you'll receive it by Thursday.

So who is buying it from Amazon? I want to get it from there, but Im not too sure how easy it is to deal with Amazon when it comes to cell phones. I've used them before for other stuff, and they've been great. Just not on the cell phone area with them.

Canceled my Radio Shack online pre-order and decided to go with Amazon. My estimated delivery date is Sept.2 - Sept.3

Someone who asked about the protection plan: I opted for this when I checked out and it wasn't in my final Amazon bill. Said it was going to be part of the monthly bill so I assume it will be the same procedure to process any protection plan related claims as if you purchased it at a local store.

I went ahead and preordered from amazon as well. I am going to cancel my BB order.

I am getting 2 phones. Taxes on the full price @ BB is $38. Amazon is tax free in most states. Plus $100 cheaper, that's $138 in savings. It might be later but since I'm a new customer I'm not worried.

Switching from Verizon to Sprint. (Due to cost of service with Sprint and the fact if you use sprint you can roam on Verizon.)
