Help New here - updated droid incredible to leaked froyo

Hey folks, I was hoping you could help me with this one. I recently updated my droid incredible, rooted and installed the Froyo Leak posted on xdadevelopers. My question is now that I have froyo will I still get the same app update notifications that I used to receive in 2.1? I have been rooted for 4 days and haven't received any.

I was referring to the updates that happen to the installed applications. Those used to get pushed out daily...I have yet to see one since I upgraded to Froyo. Please advise.
Thanks,
Frank

Oh, yeah you will still get the app update notifications. believe it or not, some days there just aren't any updates :)

If you want to be sure, just open market and hit "Menu" then "Downloads" to see if there are any updates that you weren't notified about.

Thank you very much...I just thought it was wierd because it has been a few days and no update notifications. By the way, is there one ROM that is better than another. I installed the original with V5 of the patch. Is this as good as the other ones out there? Particularly the Sky Raider one you see everywhere? Thanks again!

Totally up to you. The ROM that you find that you like best is the best one out there. :) I have tried them all and Loved CM6 but moved to Adryn's vanilla once 2.2 came out and have settled with SkyRaider 2.5.2 Vanilla (Soon to be v3) (This is on XDA or ROM Manager)

That may change once CM6 is ported to 2.2 ;-)

Either way, I would try a few out (don't install a ton of apps since you'll be flashing again anyway) and test them out to find which one suits you best.

Honestly, I am not even sure what they call the ROM I updated to - it says 20100727_stock_froyo_signed. I used a patch that said V5 also. What do they call this Rom? Everything appears to be working ok....I think. Is this considered a good ROM? Is there anything I should be on the lookout for or any reasons I should consider a different ROM? It was kind of a pain setting everything up again after I wiped thus I am hesitant to go experimenting. Please let me know what you think. Your help is very much appreciated!

Yeah I noticed that too - I had to manually go and download all of my apps again. Are the other ROMS out there also 2.2 Froyo or is the leak the only one? Is there one that is the best that has 2.2? One thing I also notice on the leak is that sometimes when I go to play a HD video back I will get a message that says "cannot play video" but then I will try a second time and it works. Sometimes the video appears a bit jumpy...any ideas?

OK, I just did the backup using ROM manager. It seems to have worked well. Now, in the event I go experimenting with a new ROM will I be able to go back to this current configuration and have all of my settings...email, widgets, apps etc exactly as they were when I did the backup? Or will I have to set everything up from scratch again? Please let me know.
Thanks a million dude!

Yep. It's like a mirror of your current setup. Everything will be just like it was at the time of the backup.

Note:
Only thing that could change between now and then that wouldn't restore is the radio (if you flash a different one before the restore event). It's it's own beast.

OK I am a little confused about the radio note....I updated my radio previously when I installed the leaked Froyo. I just backed up my current configuration tonight. If I I need to restore the system after playing with other ROMS will it keep the new radio which I already put on it and currently have on it right now?

Yes, as long as you don't flash your radio between now and then. Nandroid does not backup or restore the radio, it is independent of the process.
