Oh I agree its terrible here now. All the moving and merging makes it IMPOSSIBLE to find old threads now. I'm not sure why they are doing it it seems like after the last few "crashes" this started. I'm thinking they are low on bandwidth or something. Here is a link to a better forum and not so goofed up with moves and merging. Im going to be ditching this Forum myself if things don't get better soon.

Oh it is too. Try a different Android Forum none of this merging crap goes on there. This Site has gone to hell in the last couple of months and thats a shame it used to be good.

This is just getting ridiculous. Half the firs

t page is full of threads that have been moved. The latest victim being the "site to watch movies on" thread. The last time I checked we recently got an update to watch flash movies on our phone(froyo). How is a thread that reccomends sites we can go to not relevant. Now that very useful thread will die because no one is going to post in it because they can't find it or never knew it existed.

Hey modders, I come to this place for EVO heads up and Android in general. I want some of that off topic stuff. This place has gone from having 10+ stickies to not being able to post a thread for fear it will just be moved to some random backwater part of the website.

They don't _have_ to - but if you ask them politely - via private message - just as they say in their guidelines - they're happy to answer and to consider all points of view.

Publicly slagging the mods amounts to nothing more than whining and rabble rousing.

If you think you can do a better a job for free than our mods, then write them - I say sincerely that I'm sure they'd welcome any constructive help they can get.

And maybe part of the problem is that some of you - icebergslim3000 - seem to feel that android apps, android media, news - are all "backwater" parts of the web, and everything should be flattened for the EVO forum.

This just in - there's more to Android than the EVO and doesn't it make just a little bit of sense to think in terms of the android community first when you're thinking of generic Android stuff - and to not be constrained to only Evo user opinions and experience on that sort of thing?

This is a TECH forum with a very specific purpose. This isn't the local pub. If you want to talk about a more general topic, go to a more general forum.

The only thing that is annoying is leaving the pointer behind. If someone is really wondering where a thread went, they'll use search to find it again. The pointers clutter up the forum just as much as an active thread.

Now, think about the number of threads we are talking about here and then add half the total to that. Now take the threads that are separated into sub sections out and mix them all around. So you have about 15,000 threads all mixed together that you have to sort through to try and find the information you are looking for. Would that somehow be easier to deal with? Would it actually be easier to sort through 157,451 posts in over 15k threads?

Oh and since some of you are probably wondering, those last two numbers show the current number of members on AF and the total number of active Mods.

that is the mods fault!!! when you move threads in vBulletin you have the option to leave a redirect or not and its normally best to not leave a redirect! but on the other hand its prob a admin rule to leave a redirect and if its a reason so the op can find his/her thread they can just goto the user stats and look for the thread without a redirect.

I agree! It is absolutely ridiculous that threads have to be moved or merged. The fact that everyone seems to think that all topics belong in one giant melting pot of threads is just plain silly.

Listen boys and girls, there is more to this forum than just the EVO section. We have a pretty wide range of forums and all of them pertain to Android. If you make a general Sprint post, it belongs in the Sprint section of the forum and not the EVO section just because that is the phone you own. If you are talking about Video, there is a whole section about Android Media. The latest side splitting joke that you have to share with all your buddies, belongs in the lounge. Who knows, you might gain some previously unknown knowledge from a non-EVO user.

You all call it over moderation and complain that we move and merge threads, but to be honest I call some of it self-absorption that you can't tell that some of your posts belong in other places. This forum does not start and end with the EVO. It is about Android.


EDIT: BTW, I am merging the topics because they are about the exact same subject. There is no reason at all to have two threads about the EXACT same thing in the same section of the forum.
