I've read that Verizon comes with Android 1.5. Is it possible to update to 2.2?
How much is in USA or Asia Countries (Taiwan, Hong Kong, China and other one with cheap workmanship)? If i buy it in one of these countries, it will work in Brazil?
And, how can i develop apps for Android, i know something about C, Basic, Python, PHP, CSS, HTML, but i think, just thinking that AndroidOS doesn't "use" these programming languages. So which one?

Thanks first,
Matheus

You mean the Eris? Brand new it came with Android 1.5, but its no longer being manufactured, and has been officially updated to 2.1. You can update to 2.2 unoffically through rooting the phone.

The Eris is a CDMA phone designed to only work on Verizon's network in the United States. Its not a GSM phone so there is no SIM card. You may get it to work on other CDMA networks (if there are any in Brazil) through modifications, but there are no guarantees, and you may not have full functionality of all the features. Since its no longer manufactured, the only way to really acquire it is through 3rd parties such as eBay. I think they run for about 150-200 USD.

And programming for Android is heavily Java based. If you know Java pretty well, you shouldn't have too much of a problem with Android, since they are very similar. Just look on the Android SDK website for more development info.

Hope that helps!

I was in my local Big Red this afternoon and the tech lady swore to me, numerous times, that the Eris will be getting FroYo. I said that I had read on numerous websites that this was untrue and she said that the Eris would be getting 2.2 before the Incredible's. I don't believe her for one second. But, on the other hand, why would she lie about it? Just thought it was interesting and wanted to share.

Cheers

I'm thinking that she was confused. There has been no confirmation of any of this. The only phones that are getting 2.2 for sure are the newer phones. I don't even think there will be another update to the current 2.1 software. I think we have to face facts that our current phone has reached its end of life.
