iv had lookout for a while now but it makes my phone very slow (moto cliq) i thought i found a better app called wavesecure finds my location and can erase restore info too if stolen but its a 20 dollar monthly subscription:(
so i thought hmm maybe mobile defense is better but found out its in closed beta damnn so close:(

soo any other app i missed that can find my location, back up erase and restore my data from my phone or pc if stolen, lockdown my phone, and sim card tracking would be a plus too but doesnt matter

any helpers??? lol

srry i forgot to edit that lol it really is a 1yr subscription for 20 dollars srry

n i do use it all the time in the background because its suppose to be used like that n its safer from losing ur phone or getting a virus anyday also for sum reason other ppl suffer from the slowness of this app they uninstall itn and move on

soo any other apps people use?? other than these iv mentioned in my thread?

It's still running in the background, just not with the notification icon in the notification bar.
It still scans apps as I install them and that slows things down a little but not much more than just waiting for things to write to the sdcard anyway.
Other than that I haven't noticed any slowdown.
I hope you find something that works for you.

Hi ezetrex,
Thank you for mentioning WaveSecure. I would like to point out that the US$19.90 subscription price is for 1 year and not 1 month. That said, we are running a promotion currently and you can get WaveSecure at a 20% discount by visiting this link.

Hope that clarifies.

Thanks,

Not sure if you are aware of this, but I have used 'Tasker' to make your Wavesecure app a much more powerful handset location app. For some reason your app does not turn on GPS automatically when you remote lock and locate the phone via your website.

I have now set Tasker to activate GPS when your app is run via the 'lock' or 'locate' commands from your website! Now I do not have to have GPS turned on all the time and can get a nice accurate fix on my phone should it be lost or stolen. You never really know when you are going to be mugged!

Really pleased with Wavesecure now. Also, since you updated it so the lock screen is not so easy to bypass, it is a very worth-while addition to the security conscious android owner. Keep up the good work. Could you perhaps think of adding the function to turn on GPS when the 'lock' or 'locate' command is received? Think it would be well received.

For anyone else reading this who has not yet tried out Tasker, give the one week trial a go. But BE PATIENT WITH IT! It is a very powerful app but takes a while to get used to. It is only limited by your imagination though. Well worth the

I just came over from Blackberry, where I used BuddyGuard on my phone. The free version allowed email/sms monitoring for "command" phrases and a password; upon receipt the phone would lock and display a phone number and lock message.

I am not looking for any full-blown tracking, wiping, security applications... merely the ability to sms/email my phone and have it securely locked. Is anyone aware of such an app?

hi cheewee?

long story..

I had my phone stolen by a girl I was dating. she didnt want to end it. I use Wavesecure and thought it was great app. I also have the wavesecure uninstall protection app.

i locked the phone that night when I got home.

next day I got the phone back but she had taken the memory card out and hid it! because it was locked, she took out the card.

It was on 2.1 custom ROM and app2sd. with the SD card out (so wavesecure was not working).. the phone booted and was working.. just missing all loaded apps from the market. that sucks!!!

so..I got a new card...
and reloaded wavesecure and will leave the app on internal memory. but now it wants me to register as a new user.

I went to wavesecure.com and my cell number and PIN are still good. it sent an sms to my phone to unlock it. My phone got the message text to unlock, but my phone dont know what to do with it, since the phone will not see the old account.

I tried to find an email on their website so that I can ask for help. Nothing but sales numbers. I will try to call them next week for support.

what do I need to do.. to get my account setup again?
Same Phone and phone number.. only different sd card.

thanks.

Hi wnp_79,
Does Tasker require root access to turn on GPS automatically? If you have root access, you can install WaveSecure as a system app and that lets you turn on GPS remotely.

The easiest is to do it via the update.zip method. The file can be downloaded from www.wavesecure.com/installations/update.zip. Hope that helps! :)

Hi dan330,
Our development team is aware of this glitch and they are working on it. Unfortunately, it is not a quick and simple fix.

Meanwhile, if you would just go through the setup process using the same PIN, WaveSecure will continue to work.

my phone is Rooted... it never asked me to load it as a system file.

what does this update app do exactly? I have an update app to make my NFL and TV apps work.
is it the same thing?

BTW: i fixed my registration via your suggestion. thanks.

I've been screwing around with an app called autowipe. Supposedly you can send an sms to your phone and it'll wipe it and the SD card. I have yet to get this functionality working on the app yet. It also wipes your phone if you enter the wrong access code too many times. That part works. It doesn't offer locate services, but it's a free app. If my phone is stolen knowing where it is is practically useless. If my phone is lost I generally have some idea where it is (i.e. somewhere in my house) and unless GPS can tell me where in my house I put it it's not that useful to me.

I have read that you can only track your phone four times within a 24 hr. period. Does anyone who has used this software confirm this?
If you have to pay $20/yr, yet this app is this limited, this is a major flaw.

Thanks.

yes.. only 4 times in one day!
$20/yr and $.20 per sms message to your phone (in usa)

fyi... the new HTCsense.com that will be release with future HTC phones... has all these functions of wavescure.. free with the phone.
I also believe that EVO and other official 2.2 android HTC phones will get this upgrade too

If you have Asurion insurance, they have a free app that lets you locate your phone, lock it remotely and/or wipe your contacts off it. It's not that great of an app IMO, but it does work well for what it does.

Hi Allen5,
Thanks for the comment. I've just verified with our tech team and found out this restriction has been removed a few months ago following feedback from users. In addition, you have the ability to track the location every 15, 30, or 60 minutes with each command issued.

Thanks,

Thanks all.
Yea, that's pretty bad. I was testing this during the trial period, and I already got hit (under a dollar so not bad so far) with the .20 per sms issue.
I will be shopping around (I don't have a HTC,Ii have Moto).

Hi Allen5,
Did you have data turned on when you issued the remote commands? When a command is issued from the WaveSecure site, an SMS is sent from our US gateway if the user is based in US. The phone will respond using data and if data is not available, it will fall back on SMS text messages (to our SG server).

If this is not the case, it will be great if you can contact us so we can look into this.

Thanks,
