Battery Indicator Pro Helps Battery

Please do not move this posting because this is only applicable to the EVO. The app Battery Indicator Pro received an update that will tell you how long before your phone is fully charged so you can pull your phone from the charger right at green light/fully charged. Nobody should experience the 5% dropoff in battery power using this app. If you can't pull the phone off the charger as depicted by the app, I don't know what else to tell you.

Because if you don't pull the phone off the charger when the battery indicates full, you will see a drop in battery life. Leaving the phone plugged in overnight will result in a battery drop in the morning.

Also, the app will log your battery usage for you battery monitors. The developer recommended you enable and use this feature for only like 2-3 days because it will drain your battery having the app constantly log everything.

or you could leave it plugged in over night. unplug it in the morning. check txt's and emails while sitting on the pot. then plug it in while you eat and shower.

i plug mine in overnight and get up get dressed get the phone off charge and out the door to work i go so there is no way of pulling right when the light turns green. really wish they would send out an update to fix this problem or someone develop and app to trickle charge the battery once it is done charging so you dont see the drop first off...im just about fed up with the whole battery issue myself and go back to my 3 year old curve. No use in having a phone of this magnitude and cant even use it for what it is designed for... and if this is a android issue then odds are the epic wont be any better or any other android phone for that matter... battery wise that is...

You are crying for no reason. An app tells you when to remove the battery from the charger like a timer cooking food. I say turn in your EVO or find some cheese to go with your whinning, I mean wine.

lol or better yet they could get with RIM and learn how to develop a phone with true Power management, but i guess you cant have the best of both worlds.. either blackberry with the suck ass browser and unbeatable battery power or go with the EVO that can do everything under the sun but not for long...lol so ill take my cheese and wine and sit by a wall outlet while i play with my EVO...

That a boy! I run the hell out of my battery, especially surfing this forum. I just hook the EVO up to an extension cord so I keep juice in my battery. I mean you keep a laptop plugged in as well right?

Ha - me, too. Laptop and Evo hooked up to an extension cord that is plugged into a SURGE PROTECTOR. Good thing, too - 2 power outages within the past 10 days.

Although, really, I rarely plug it in at home unless it is the weekend or tonight - I have been talking on it for over 2 hours, fiddled with Google Earth, etc. so I'm charging it before bed. I'll unplug before bed, and I will wake up down 2%.

I find that placing my EVO firmly between my butt cheeks while eating Frosted Flakes in the morning increases my battery life by 10%. However, Wheat Chex only results in a 5% gain.

Sugar beats fiber yet again.

Meh this is pretty unnecessary. I mean yeah you could unplug it when it's done charging. But if you're not going to use it, the battery is still going to drop regardless. Just leave it on their until your ready to walk away with it.

Actually there is a difference and the battery will drop at 1% an hour opposed to 3-5% in 10 minutes. A difference does exist so please don't tell newbies it doesn't because all you do is confuse them even more.

I don't understand how this helps. You set the time it will discharge in it doesn't calibrate itself. How am I supposed to know how long it will last on light, moderate, heavy, constant usage?

As long as they know that after the green light comes on its no longer charging and running on battery (until a certain percentage before it starts charging again).

So i don't think its necessary to unplug if you know this and not start to bug out when you see a drop a little while after unplugging.

I feel as though im educating the "newbies". Not confusing them.

I gotta say I don't believe keeping the phone on charger all night drains the battery. Hell, i'd be waking up all hours of the night to remove the phone if that were the case for me.

You don't set anything, the app determines the usage. It give you a time for the different types of usage. It takes a few seconds to download an app and test it out. Why does everything in this forum have to be like a where's Waldo book? You can either install the app and if you do not like the app, uninstall it. This isn't Pre-K people. Keep the app if you like it, uninstall if you don't. Its the best battery indicator app in the market with this update. I hear other apps drain battery, this one doesn't unless you enable the app to log everything that uses your battery.

You are causing the confusion. You have yet to explain why you must unplug it as soon as the light turns green.

Here are 2 scenarios that I would love you to explain:

I plug in my phone at midnight and the light turns green at 2 a.m. I don't need my phone at all until 8 a.m. when I wake up.

1. I unplug the phone right at 2 a.m. and let it sit on the dresser until 8 a.m.

2. I keep it plugged in until 8 a.m. at which point I take it off the charger.

After using the phone for 1 hour (it is now 9 a.m.), which scenario will leave you with the most remaining battery life?

I have been using this app since I got my phone in june. Why insult people when you don't know what your taking about? Drop down the status bar and click on the batty app. Now a pop up comes up. Now press menu. Now go to settings then time settings. If you look you can set the discharge time for light, moderate, heavy, constant usages. You set the value anywhere from 45min to 98 hours. How does me setting a time value tell me when the battery will die. I could set it for 50 hours heavy usage but I'm not going to get it. You might want to look st what someone is talking about before insulting them.

You should have the same amount in either case. The evo stops charging and runs on battery power only once the battery hits 100% that's why you get that instant battery drop when you unplug it. Weather its plugged in or not its running on the battery in both cases.
