Root My Droid World has FRG22D!

Come on, Pete, now do something "epic" with it!

Peter Alfonso - tell him there :) or watch that page.. I suspect it will happen as I would like a Pete's version just becuase I use his current FRG01B and so would like his version of FRG22D.

looking at johnlgalt's link above, it looks like it takes you back to the stock kernel, so would have to reflash your OC'd kernel again

loaded this over FRG22 w/out clearing anything...only issue I had was Gmail force closing, so I cleared data on Gmail and then things were fine.

Seems really solid, no market issues for me. Running this until my refurb arrives tomorrow (fourth try - first three refurbs that Verizon sent me over the past week or so had problems) after which I will return to my beloved CyanogenMod ROM. :)

Update: Had to re-activate my phone this AM (I was giving a refurb another try and had to come back to my original phone) and was unable to complete activation, the activation keyboard kept locking up on me. Nandroided back to FRG22 and activated fine. Probably a just-me issue, my Droid has all kinds of 2.2 issues (why I'm getting it replaced) but wanted to mention this just in case it happened to someone else.

By the way, someone in microsoft.public.windows.vista.general told me that Adobe Flash will NOT be released 2 the Android Market untIl October! I hope she is wrong!

It's available for me in the Market, but I'm on CM6 not stock 2.2.
It's certainly a nice feature for certain websites (flash only restaurant sites), but I think the speed updates of 2.2 is a far better feature.

I am also confused as to what the "D" will bring me if I change from FRG22? My phone is running so well I hate to change it unless I could get a real working version of flash (I have pretty much given up on that)

why have you given up on Flash? Works for me, on the sites I visit, and I simply downloaded the 10.1 from a thread here last week.

As far as I read over at MDW, it's the same but it fixes a few bugs. If you're phone is running great, I say leave it. It would be nice if we knew what bugs were fixed...it could be bugs for Amazon mp3 to which most of us wouldn't care :p

I cannot, for the love of god, update google maps. I have searched the corner of the forums for a solution but none of them work. Even if I uninstall the .apk and com.google..., I cannot install maps from the market. I can uninstall google maps and reinstall it from this rom's .zip. But I cannot download it from market or download it from the web and install it. Does anyone have any ideas??

Ok this is the first time I post advice normally I am the one asking questions. I will start off by saying I had the same problem but I search for the solution on the same forum that the link was posted on (my droid world) and this is what I read:

This is a little tedious but

You have first downgrade to frg081b
Peter Alfonso

So first wipe cache and data files
Then flash frg081b
Then flash frg22d
Then bam u can get maps updated and also find flash on the market

The reason why you have to downgrade is because verizon released this update to cover frg081b so whatever rom u had before even if u did wipe data and cache it won't update maps because the signatures or whatever is not correct to its previous rom...
So you have to make sure when do restore your apps with titantum backup make sure u just restore apps that are not stock apps or any system data.

Hope this works for ya... let me know if you got it working

I was on the same boat I had CM6.0 RC 3 and I went to frg22d and I was like come on maps and after wiping data and cache nothing I first decided to restore back to cm6.0 rc3 and now that I am at work I decided to search thru the forums and I found this out and I tried it out. So I decided to come back on here and spread the knowledge.

Just updated over top of FRG22, just wiped cache and everything is good so far. Does seem snappier than the previous build and 01B, pulling 14's in linpack @1ghz. Had to reload the new Google Search and Voice Search, but worked fine after uninstalling the old version through Titanium and rebooting before downloading (Im assuming this is the same problem some people are seeing with updating Maps).
