Getting another replacement today, the mic went out

i was trying to use the google voice actions app, when it didnt work i figured it was the app, when the next 3 phone calls didnt work i figured it was the phone. this will be number 3 or 4, i cant remember. though i have had this one for about three months.

Just got me wondering, how long have you had your particular phone, and if you did get it replaced in the past, what was the reason?

You guys know how the Eris's name came about, right? from deSIRE, take the last four letters and reverse. Prior to the actual HTC Desire, the codename for the Eris was "desire" much like the Droid's is "sholes" and the DX "Shadow."

So because it isn't quite a real word, it doesn't matter how you say it. You can make it a meme on the forum, how it's correctly spelled, but it'll be like arguing semantics.

Having the Eris was like having a cancer, AIDS, or being raped and we were all victims. Which is why I think this is the most active section on the forum. But I was sick and tired of the shit I had to put up with to keep it as a phone, so I went through a few and get the Droid. Then I also got chosen to test the prototype of a future phone due out later this year so I figured I'd have two phones, at least one should work reliably.

So after going through my original Eris and then a replacement, I got the Droid and a week later, got my tester's device. And I'm happy.

So two. I cut the BS from VZW short before it become long-winder hot air that would have kept me in the circle of death until next July. Can't argue with free phones either.

So if it came from DESIRE and was reversed, does that mean since it's a past tense phone we really could refer to it as an Erised.
Just playing along...

~Desiree - yes, my real name:)

Hmmm--I'd say the Desire theory is a bit less likely, though. What's the significance of choosing the last 4, instead of the last 3, 5, or the whole thing?

Because the Eris is a polished turd of the Hero and VZW was in it to make a quick buck off of it? Note the EOL. If it truly was a Greek Goddess, it would make and maintain a call for more than three minutes.

I'll have to find what I read earlier that made a good argument for it. Or I'll ask someone I know that's more knowledgeable with Android devices.

Well, it is the Greek goddess of strife, so it certainly is appropriate for a device that causes discord...
