I don't understand. Let's advertise a phone that we can't supply you? Might as well not have commercials for it.

I see no reason to be face palmed. They should have been marketing the hell out of this phone a month or so prior to release. Now that it's been 3 months they finally make a solid ad, but they can't even produce enough phones to cater to anyone enticed by the ad. They are beating a dead horse... They should save their money focus the majority of their money into production and when they have solid shipments market the hell out of their product. There IS a reason why everyone thinks a Evo is a Droid....

There was plenty of hype around the phone prior to its release as evidenced by the fact that it sold out so quickly. There was no reason to push too hard in marketing it further because the big competition was still a little ways off. Enter the Droid X and iPhone 4. There is hype around those as well, so then it is time to lay on the advertising. Keep the Evo hype high and try to steal a little thunder from the other guys. So now you have more demand than you do supply, leaving you with two choices. You let the hype die down (e.g. stop advertising) just because your supply is low and all the would-be customers lose some of their excitement for the Evo and buy something else. Or, you keep them excited about the Evo and convince them to wait it out until they can get their hands on one. If you go with the first option, you lose those customers for good. You don't steal away a customer 1 month after they signed a 2 year contract. Option two gives you a chance to capture them, still.

As for investing in production, it isn't like playing Sim City. You can't just take some money out of your advertising budget and make phones appear. If it were as simple as throwing money at it, don't you think they would have done so already?

They say there is a shortage of screens therefore the huge delay in production. I would really hope they reverse engineer this phone and work out the cosmetic defects and other kinks. I went through 4 phones to get one without screen separation and light leakage. So I hope while they are waiting for their supply of screens to increase they are working on fixes for their quality issues.

You are in the very small minority where your area only received the initial flawed batch before inventory ran dry. Therefore, all replacements suffered from the same problem. The issues have been addressed. It's becoming more and more rare to get a replacement with those original problems.

I see where your coming from and I agree. I guess my judgment is just being clouded because of my inability to get the phone and this ad makes me feel as if it's teasing me. Like "Hey, look at my awesome phone! Good luck finding it!"

This commercial really doesn't have much substance at all. I think this is sad.

I hate to say it but Apple's commercials are way better than the competition. In my experience, a lot of non-techies still don't understand that there are phones other than the iphone that can do what it can do or more. Apple's commercials mostly show a close up of the phone doing things. In contrast, commercials for other devices generally show people on screen most of the time, the phone might not even be visible on screen, and then there's a voiceover that talks in vague terms about what the phone can do or how it will change your life or some BS.

It reminds me of those vague medicine commercials that show old people riding tandem bikes and say "ask your doctor about <drug name>".

This commericial is old

Was this post really that necessary? You could have easily just moved on...

But for others, like me and a few others that posted, have never seen the commercial. And I personally thought it was way better than sprints version. They actually showed features of the phone, and not some stupid random clips floating all over the place.

Well the OP titled it to sound like HTC just aired it. I don't see anything wrong with his post IF it's indeed old.

Actually it didn't, see he said FINALLY he saw it aired, of course it could have meant both ways. But still, this forum is filled with A holes that just can't move on from a post without ruining it for others. It's like watching youtube videos. A metal head will go and watch Britney Spears videos, and commenting saying her music sucks, and he hates her blah blah, yea we've seen those ones before. So why bother watching the videos anyways? It's always good to keep your mouth shut if you have nothing good to say, ever hear that before?

But it isn't old... At least not in New Orleans where I am. I watch a good bit of TV and this is the first time I have ever seen an HTC made EVO commercial. If it is old as was implied why couldn't I find a version of it online when I can find all the other HTC commercials? Not that it matters. I was just sharing what I saw.

The title doesn't say he saw it aired. I suggest your re-read it. Ever hear that before?

I like it and never said it was old. Sounds like Androidboy has a crush on me.

"Finally saw an HTC made EVO commercial during last nights Warehouse 13.... Around the 44 minute mark. Uploading the Video now:"

He was watching TV, commercial was aired on TV. He saw the commercial on TV. Sure the title may not say it, but his next sentence does. Did you read that?

So I automatically have a crush on you, because, out of all of my posts I have ever made, replied to you ONCE? Looks like you may have the crush since you replied to everything I said in this thread.

Like I said, this forum is filled with kids and its a good thing moderators are being added.

I was strictly pointing out the title. Again, learn to read, little man.

Actually:

"But of course the kids say its OLD. So who knows right?"

Was directed at JayC and myself. Kids. Plural.

It's okay to admit when you're wrong. Once you're and adult, you'll understand.
