Hi, hope this makes sense:p
I know the screen can show some really great images and videos.
I want to know what format the videos should be in to get the best quality, i moved a few hours of family guy from itunes to the phone, its in mp4 atm Im sure.
Any advice would be great, and i just had a standard did to video converter off the internet.
Tom:)

I know it plays it fine just is that the best format for quality?

I would say its pretty darn close to the best for mobile devices and to still manage small file size.

Have you ever downloaded a video from you tube in 720p HD and put it on your phone?

Here are a couple of links I guarantee will look amazing on your Vibrant.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BTGZiVat52c

To download the videos to your computer just ad "pwn" without the quotes after the url's www.

Select "DIRPY" and then select "HD -720p"
It will then download as an .mp4 file.

Dirpy Studio Beta: Convert Youtube Videos to Mp3s

Do the same for the following video files 1-6

YouTube - Sony Blu::Elements - Forsenses, Part 1/6 [HD 1080p]

Forgot to add, it seems the same quality as when it was on my iphone:(
Codec (format) of the video doesn't matter. What matters is resolution and the compression level. If you are watching a video with very low resolution (less than DVD res) or one that has been highly compressed, Galaxy S screen cant do anything to improve quality.

I have transfered few DivX movies, they looked pretty good. As for the resolution anything close or higher than Galaxy S's native resolution (480 x 800) should look very sharp, compression level depends on the codec. For Div X I wouldn't go below 1.2Mbps for standard definition videos.
