Gmail not coming through (it was), and sync on?

My gmail was coming in pretty fast, now today it isn't. I have to manually refresh it now. Maybe I changed something, if so can you direct me where I need to check please?
They are not showing up in my notification nar at this time (after refresh) either. I really like that bar too!

Also, the data sycnronizing or connected HTC Sync icon (right by the gps and 3g icons) keeps coming on and off every few seconds. Is this normal?
While I'm at it, the 3g icon's arrows (up and down) do the same thing all the time.

I'm a yahoo guy and setup my gmail to import my yahoo, now all day it hasn't been when refreshing, etc. Gmail issues today perhaps?

I think from all of my reading on here and messing with the phone I did something perhaps?
Thanks for any help.

This is what I've been recommending (PS I have Droid not HTC but should be the same)

I recommended having your mail FORWARDED to gmail. This is the fastest possibel solution I have, it happens almost instantly without fail. This way you dont' have to worry abotu working gmail into everything, or even using the gmail after it's initial setup.

Currently I believe to be notified on ur phone, it has to enter the inbox (dont' autoarchive in gmail). You dont' currently recieve notifications if it is just syncing a "label"

You can still add labels and set up ur gmail account to use the outgoing server (yahoo in this case) as desired.

Also, if you want to keep everyhting in yahoo as well, or wherever, make sure you leave a copy on server, or CC options, (not sure what yahoo uses)

Does this solve your issue(s)?

Not sure, sorta lost.
Ok, an email came through to my gmail account, must have been a syncing issue, I turned autosync back on, but I had it off to conserve battery life.
Still can figure out why my yahoo is not being imported to my gmail as it was yesterday.
Thanks for the help, appreciate it.

Importing mail can be slow. I'm not when gmail decides to fetch mail frmo the servers. That is why I recommend forward mail from your default email TO gmail. This creates instant emailing and push the info when sync is on straight to your phone.

Ah, now I understand, thank you.
But, with regualr yahoo, you don't have the option to forward, you need the $20 a year plus version.
I do think this issue is supposed ot be fixed with the update coming...at least I hope.

Oh i see. Valid point, and quite unfortunate for yahoo users. Oh well, glad to see you have everything worked out!

Yep, darn buggy stuff.
I still am not sure why gmail isn't grabbing them, some from middle of last night haven't hit my gmail yet, when yesterday they were grabbing my yahoo ones into yahoo pretty fast.

Maybe the 20 a year is worth it, or switching to a different server that is better, or maybe just gmail? I know changing your primary email isn't an easy thing.
