Outlook Users -Advice?

I am a standalone Outlook 2007 user (not on Exchange) and currently have a BB Pearl. I am thinking about going to an Eris but want to know how well Outlook synchronization is working for users? Is the HTC synch program reliable?

I would like to make the change, but the BB synch is so reliable and crippling my Outlook use is unacceptable for contacts, tasks, and calendar. I'm just nervous about making the leap. Seems like most people are sold on the multimedia capabilities and are sort of settling for less effective PIM functions on the Eris. Thoughts/

Thanks,
Roger

I have the droid. Doubt there is much differences here. This is what I did.

First step, I set up all my accounts to forward to gmail (and leave message on the server so I can still download via outlook later)

2, i set up a few filters in gmail (i chose to label each account based on the to: field) and one filter that get's everything addressed to the gmail account to forward to the emial i usually use (this way I'll now get my gmail account in outlook and not have to configure it as well)

3, I set up all of my accounts outgoing servers in gmail selected a default one, AND then checked to send from the account it is addressed to. this way when i hit reply, it will send from the correct account.

OK that takes care of perfect email and basicaly instant push to phone ability.

Next for calendar, there is a quick program that you can set up that will sync ur outlook calendar to gmail. How often can be configured. This solves calendar.

I dont' use tasks, so i don't really know about this.

Also for contacts, there are programs for this.

Hope this is somewhat helpful?

There's a BIG difference between the Droid and the Eris ... Check out the Sticky note above for lots of good details.

this is especially important if you don't want to use "the cloud" to sync your information (some folks, like me, prefer a direct connection with a USB cable to sync contacts and calendar info).

Hey just an idea.
Couldn't you set up a google mail, calender and contacts on your phone, use google sync and sync it to your outlook on your desktop? Kind of like having your own little exchange server...:)

I sync my work outlook calender (exchange server) through google sync to my phone calender and it works great. backwards and forwards.
Plus I have never once even looked at google calender after I set this up.
Calender on my phone and calender on my work PC thats all I need.

Plus I have yahoo mail syncing to the phone, works nice.
