Hi everyone,

I wanted to forward an email to my friend today and found out that I have his email address on my phone buy not on my gmail on computer. That's because the email address EVO got is from facebook! But I was wondering if there's a way to sync them? I don't wanna add the info one by one.....that's would be sooo tiring and time wasting.

Thanks

technically I think this is possible by adding the facebook app from the market, then changing the setting for that facebook to update your contacts. It adds all of them fyi duplicates and all.

once you had done that I believe that you can then sync your contacts to google and it back them all up but I haven't tried it.

I was rather annoyed by all of my duplicate contacts when attempting this and keep them seperate by only using the htc facebook sync and the gmail sync

you sure can do this...

1. export your "phone contacts" to your sd card
2. import them back and choose "as google"
3. link them together, (link icon feature as below)
4. sync with gmail acct (under accounts and sync)

here's how to for your FB contacts

menu->stettings_->accounts and sync-->add account-->fb for htc sense

once you sync this, go to "people" -->menu-->view-->select Facebook...

then goto each contact, edit contact and touch the "link" icon up near the top(come to think of it you may not need to be in "edit" mode to do this(not near my phone to check), and it will ask you if you want to link it to google/phone/facebook, touch the facebook one, and it should link them together...

in case you mess something up, here's how i found to undo FB sync...

Thanks for the help, shantytownbrown. But I think you might misunderstood what I meant. I did the link thing and all my contacts are in google account and facebook account. But some of my facebook contacts are not in my google account. So by doing the link thing, I can see both info on "my phone" but not on the gmail while I am using it on my computer.

For example,

I add "A" on facebook, and "A" puts his email and phone number on facebook. Therefore my phone is able to grab "A's" info and add it to my contacts on my phone. However, if I am using my computer, there's no way I can find A's email address in gmail.

That's why I am asking if there's anyway that gmail account can also sync the info from facebook?

Thanks :)

you are correct i did misunderstand...i have since deleted my facebook connections from my phone, as i do not use facebook as my contact account, so i cannot "test" out this on my phone...i would have assumed that the save to sd would have "carried" the facebook contact info with it since it was linked,

just a thought...

are your facebook contacts linked to your "google" contacts or your "phone" contacts...?

was thinking... if you link first to phone, save and then re-import as google then link, then re-sync to google....??? otherwise, i throw it back to the rest of the board...

Just got my Evo yesterday, synced gmail & linked to Facebook, now everyone in my FB friends list is in my contacts, we're talking over 3,000 people from all over the world!!! Most also have there Mobile phone numbers listed!!! I thought I did something wrong, my Sprint Hero running stock 2.1never did this when linking my contacts, so I'm not sure if this is a FroYo problem.

Last night I had to do a factory reset to fix a lockscreen password issue, & when I resynced my contacts the same thing happened again. Very frustrating to have all of these people, most of whom I only played games on FB with in my contacts when trying to send an e-mail, or text message.

Anyone know how to fix this?

The only FB app on my phone is the one that came preinstalled on the phone, for HTC Sense, I haven't DL'd, nor do I use any other app for FB. Any help appreciated!!!

use a different FB app, NOT the HTC Sense one...you can get it from the market...

hope this works for you...

besides, once i stopped htc fb for sense..my battery life improve dramatically...not sure if this is coincidence, but i hadnt done anything else at that time, other than start using usb vs wall charging...

I save all my contacts on my google account. I save no contacts on my phone. About the link thing, there's only two options? One is link with google and the other one is link with facebook. I don't really get the part you said "linked to google contacts or my phone contacts"

Hope this will clear things up :p

you can save contacts as "phone" contacts or "google" contacts, right? if you had saved as "phone" contact, you could have linked your "phone contacts" to your "google contacts" and to your "facebook"... i thought you did...hmmm

just a thought, i wonder if it takes a link from "phone" contact to a "facebook" contact then "phone" to "google" to make the google to facebook thing work...but i doubt it...seems like linking a facebook contact to a google saved on your phone, should accomplish what you want..

too bad gmail on the net cannot pull info from your facebook account...

hey, i found this...

Google Contact Sync | Heart of Angel

will this do what you want..?

i have to run, but i will look at this more later...

I tried, but it doesn't seem to sync the emails. :(
Also it requires the account and password so I changed my password first before I used it and changed it back after.....another idea for who doesn't wanna give out their password.
