Help Help! RUU error!

I was trying to do the RUU program that so many people have used and I ran into an issue! It was started and it was preparing or looking for my bootloader then all of the a sudden it gave me an error saying something about my USB! I never touched my USB and all I see the the HTC logo. I haven't unplugged it from USB and haven't pulled the battery (don't want to kill it!)

Any recommendations?

I did as the program asked as well! I quit applications, turned off sleep/hibernate, etc etc!

Download HTC Sync for your pc, it will install the USB drivers for the DINC. Thats what I did before I went to RUU and worked fine. Here is the link.

Also you can try just, exiting outta the RUU when it errors, leaving the phone connected to the PC not touching anything besides closing the program and restarting it.

i tried both ways - w and w/o htc sync installed- keep getting the usb connection error- windows7 64 bit os. think i ill try my son's win xp netbook.

I'm on the same setup and having the exact same issue.

Just installed the RUU. I had same issue.

Run the program in compatibility mode for XP SP3. That did the trick right away for me.
