WTF End of Life for Dinc?

WTF we are just getting into this phone and now verizon is thru with it. The Dinc will only be just over a year old and no more, bye bye. (Phones may see end of life in March 2011)

A handful of Verizon Android smartphones appear to have their end-of-life dates hung over their heads. Phones that already have shuffled off this mortal coil are the HTC Droid Eris (June 16) and original Droid (August 6).
And a handful of phones -- the Droid Incredible, LG Ally, Droid 2 and Droid X -- apparently are slated for EOL on March 31, 2011. (Edit: Yes, 2011, not 2010.) That's give the Droid Deuce a mere seven-month lifespan, which isn't out of the question, given that the original Droid isn't even a year old yet.
Then there's the Motorola Devour, whose EOL date is listed as March 1, 2011. Only, we've already seen it listed as being under EOL, and we'd be very surprised if that March date is correct. So what does that mean? Who knows. And who knows how firm these March 2011 dates are. And either way, it's not like your phone will stop working come next spring. [Phone]

Wrong section? Just askin' because us droid owners have already had our end of life period.

But that is ridiculous that they are going to stop it that early. The only reasonable explanation is the introduction of new android phones with the ability to use Verizon's new LTE (4G) Network....Or maybe a verizon iPhone?

Someone move this. The DX and D2 already have EOL date also. so you think they arent gonna end the inc too? the inc been out.

EDIT: bigger and better things are always around the corner to put current devices to shame, or at least bumped off the shelves.

As if you didn't know the day would come, OP... haven't you noticed these phones don't last THAT long? It's end of life - so they won't be selling the phone anymore. Big whoop. Doesn't mean they won't support the phone.

Since when have phones been expected to remain on the shelf for a year? With the exponential growth in smartphone usage, especially with Android, phones shouldn't really be popular for more than six months before something substantially better comes out for it.

This isn't a closed system like the iPhone where Apple can just provide very minor incremental updates every year and sell a new phone with those updates and everyone will buy into it because if they want an iPhone that is their only choice. Android is an open system, and well... you know how the saying goes. If you can't stand the heat...

Would you rather have a system like that of the iPhone where it takes years to get better computing power because there's no competition to spur on innovation?

I have to admit....I finally got our of my contract with Verizon and sold my droid and now own my first iphone. After owning almost every smartphone made, I have to truly say this phone is amazing! I did love my original Droid, but just got sick of dealing with Verizon.

Just to reword what was said here... or my take on it at least...

End of Life... as they are talking about just means that they aren't going to sell and/or directly update these phones any longer... It doesn't mean the end of service life by any means.

We obviously don't care. why are you even here?

Never knew someone could sink so low to go to a sub-par network and downgrade from what they used to have. Android lets YOU be/express YOU while apple tells you how to be/express yourself on your phone. I mean no background? no widgets? no interchangeable batteries or memory? everybody's phone looks exactly the same inside and out? no personality? no uniqueness? no customization? no open development?

Its not your phone... it's apple's phone.

You are assuming that End of Life somehow means obsolete... it doesn't.. it simply means that it is no longer going to be carried

As far as any ATT vs Verizon or Droid vs iPhone debate... anyone that particpates in these are simply being childish and both sides that argue those arguements are both wrong... Let everyone choose which one they like or dislike and just leave it at that... it is their choice. No one is dumb, stupid, or ignorant for choosing which one they like... in fact they are only those things when they let others do the choosing for them...

In reply to rdsok: expressing my thoughts doesn't make me childish. Saying "your so dumb for switching to at&t. Your such a ****** for leaving android and going to icrap. You are the most stupid human being for switching from a droid to idont" is being childish. I just expressed why I don't like apple because they limit you to a lot. No one called anybody "dumb, stupid or ignorant". Plus the competition and feedback on which is better and why you dislike the other is what make these companies improve and broaden themselves.
