Root Droid 2 Swype Theme for Droid

I took the droid 2 swype keyboard theme and put it into an xml for metamorph. (credit to sneaky_zekey for the original file and making this possible, thanks!)

Sneaky_zekey has a lot more swype themes available that can be found here.

If you don't have swype, you can register for the beta here. (thanks OMJ)

Droid 2 Swype Theme for Metamorph
If link is down, download is attached at bottom of first post here.

1. Download the zip from the link above and move it to your sdcard
2. Open Root Explorer or use ADB to get to /data/app
3. In data/app find com.swype.android.inputmethod-1.apk, long press and move (make sure droid is set to read/write)
4. Move the apk into /system/app
5. Rename to "swype.apk" exactly like that
6. Reboot the phone
7. Install MetaMorph from the market
8. Open MetaMorph and choose Unzip/Extract
9. Find the file named SwypeBlack_blue_keys.zip
10. Choose Apply Theme after it extracts
11. Reboot your phone and you're done!

Yup, it's only a theme for swype.

When moving the file to your SD card, you actually have to move it to the Android Themes folder you created when you installed MetaMorph. That wasn't stated in the OP.

It's not the actual keyboard lol, it's just the skin for it on swype.

It's swyping just fine on my phone. If it's not doing it on yours, you probably hit the expiration on that version of the beta and need to upgrade to the latest.

As for putting these files in the themes folder, you don't need to. Metamorph defaults there when it opens, but you can browse to whatever folder you want. I installed it just fine from the root of the sdcard.

Added a link for the swype beta and for MetaMorph, it does create it's own folder once you open it called androidthemes so you can either place the file there or you can still find it on your sdcard.

Well, I've been using it for about 5 days now on LFY 1.5 with no issue. Works just as well as the regular swype app, only looks better. My keys don't look near as off as yours do in the screenshots though.

Thanks guys! I'm gonna try to reinstall and see if the keys look any better.

Edit: Idk what happened, but the keyboard buttons look fine now.

The Droid's swype does not have the "speech to text" button so I'm pretty sure you can't do it.

does anyone know if i uninstall metamorph after applying this theme for swype do I loose the theme?

just curious if anyone already knows this before i learn the hard way.
