Root About to dive in but....

Hello all,
I have been reading up on how to root my Evo 4g w/ 2.2. As soon as i get a chance(when the wife goes to bed :D) I am going to try. I have read the adv/disadv and the how to. I have a few questions.

1. What is the best Rom that gives me what I have now - 4g(not here in Coral Springs Fl yet)? I am looking for one that doesnt mess with the camera/movie taking pics etc...(have a three year old)

2. MUST have Wi FI..

3. Fast with Good Battery Life.

Thank you!

Since you don't have 4G coverage right now I'm gonna have to say CM6,best ROM IMO hands down specialy if you don't like Sense. Be advise HDMI and FM Radio still don't work but to me is not such big deal for me to ditch such amazing ROM.

I suggest to go over http://www.xda-developers.com/ they have plenty of ROMs there to choose from. Good luck with the rooting process.

Ok...after i do this process do I need to do it all again to try out roms?

After you install the Recovery image (Amon or Clockwork) that's where you flash ROMs.

It's the option labeled - install .zip from sd card or something along those lines

You do have to do a data/factory wipe before flashing different ROMs though, so back up everything with Titanium or My Backup before you start flashing.

Titanium Backup is a backup available in market (free & paid versions) for root users. It backs up data, settings and apps from your phone to your SD-card. Since you will be doing a factory data wipe, you should backup everything on your phone so its not as much of a pain to get it all back after.
