just flashed this rom this morning...

it is SO fast it is rediculous. is basically radioactive froyo over meatkernal (the most stable kernal i have found so far) i have had it running for 2 hours now. have noticed one or 2 bugs (a widget froze and it randomly rebooted once) other than that i am amazed at the stability (so far while playing around with it) and the pure speed. black borders instead of grey, launcherpro, a few other goodies installed. i am coming from a custom SDX kitchen rom and it blows it out of the water! will play around with it some more and post more thoughts if i find them helpful.

sorry if there is another post on this, i searched and didnt find one.. so...

I've been meaning to give this one a try. OTH, I've become increasingly wary of the jit. So far, I've yet to see a rom w/jit that didn't reboot sometime and even 1 reboot is too much IMO. Example, last weekend my family was visiting Hershey Park. I lost sight of my 6 and 8yr olds around the wave pool and attempted to call my wife to see if she had them. That's when my phone decided to reboot (radioactive 1.8.7). While I was waiting for the phone to boot, she also tried to call me, going directly to my voicemail. Bad timing to be sure and stress that I didn't need. When we got o the to the hotel that evening, I flashed a non jit rom.

i layed it over a kitchen custom rom. Pasta, i have had NO reboots since the first one. only got about 9 hours of use, but is better than my last ROM by 3 hours... and i DID use it pretty heavy this morning dling 3 new apps and checking them out (stumbleupon LOVE IT, Trillian beta SUCKS, and juice defender which i didnt understand so deleted it)

I am in the process of downloading it now and will check it out also.
I have juice defender and just let it run (I did exception it in my task killer)
I have noticed an increase in my battery life with it. I can go all day (about 16hours) with a meatcurtain rom (from the kitchen) and a decent ammount of use during the day.
I have wanted a new rom and this one I will check out.
Thanks again Emo.

Did you flash back to stock or just go over your rom from the kitchen?
I have one from the kitchen right now and would like to try this out.

It would probably be fine to flash over, but it's often recommended to flash back to stock when changing from one rom base to another just to be sure.

I didn't have a lot of reboots with 1.8.7 either, just one at a really inappropriate time. I resisted at first, but I've become a juice defender convert. Even without any configuration, it will save some juice, especially if you go in and out of weak/no signal areas.

after i installed it i noticed that my txts werent going through and my data was laggy and i thought it had done something to my settings based on that experience... is there any other apps LIKE that that dont have so many settings and dosent mess up my data and mms?

You can use Amstel v1.1 it still uses my Kernel, it also doesn't include JIT. Instead it uses an arm11 optimized dvm that will give you 5+mflop with my kernel(if benchmarks mean anything to you). It runs the 3d app drawer of launcher pro without lag as well.

There is also a light version of this rom if you are interested.

Amstel Rom v1.1 (DE03) *swype works!

If you are all for speed there is also a few test kernels out there with overclocking that will hit 6.77mflop with the arm11 dvm only, and over 11 with jit

I have one on my thread at sdx-developers and LittleJTH has one as well in the testers board.

I flashed back to stock and installed this ROM...
Works great...
My question is about battery life. This ROM seems to suck battery life down fairly quick.
Is that because of JIT?
If so, is there a way to get the same exact ROM without JIT?
Or should I be looking elsewhere for the battery killer????
Thanks

OK, I just experienced my first random re-boot. Never had that before.
Time to go back to a non jit ROM.
The phone is also getting hot for no reason at all.
Battery life is horrid...
I went from having 24+ hrs on a single charge to less than 3 hrs with this one.
And I don't see anything about it that makes it better than Joeykrims original performance wise...
