Root unrooting fail.....brick ...i need help

yeah pretty much happend to me.
let me tell u everything that happend to me to see if anyone can help me out.

i rootted my phone using EasyRoot. then i downloaded Rom Manager. from rom manager i downloaded Bugless Beast (the 2.2 one since my phone is updated). i didnt pay attention to what it said before i downloaded it. it said to clear data and cache. i didnt do it so it was pretty laggy wen i had it on my phone. instead of going with my backup i had the smart idea of just downloading it again thinking that if this time i cleared the data and cache it will erase the current one. well this time rom manager wouldnt work. it will open and every option i would go to wud have no action. i tried unrooting everything and going back to stock but had no luck. on the EasyRoot app i hit "unroot". right after it will say that i was unrooted then one second later it will say that i was already rooted. i tried going to my back up so much using rom manager but nothing will happen. so i turned off my phone and went to wipe data and factory reset and that rom was still there. i ended up doing other options from the "clockworkmod recover" (thats the one im currently stuck on). and everything that i will do will just take my back to the motorola logo and just stay there. the only thing that happend if i leave it on that logo screen is that after a while it just turns black and then comes right back.

can some one please help me

at this point the best thing to do would be to load a rom. Boot into clockworkmod recovery and go to the partitions menu. Then mount mass usb storage and connect your phone to your pc.

Then download this FRG22D-DEODEXED-Release.zip and save it on your sd card.

Once thats done disable usb storage and go back to the main clockworkmod screen.

Then do the following

7.) Press install zip from sdcard
8.) Press Choose zip from sd card
9.) Navigate to the file and click on it.
10.) When the install is complete press the power button to get back to the main menu
11.) Reboot

OK, If you are able to power up your phone normal, go into ROM Manager, at the bottom select the option to "flash alternate recovery" do that. after that is done, back up at the top select "flash clockwork recovery" after that is done, select "manage and restore back-ups" select your back-up and restore it. should be good to go.

if you have a backup with clockworkmod/rom manager do this to restore that backup

1.) Boot into recovery by holding X while powering on the phone
2.) Click nandroid
3.) Press Backup
4.) Once the nandroid is complete press power to get back to the main menu
5.) Reboot

Then download this FRG22D-DEODEXED-Release.zip and save it on your sd card.

10-4, that was my guess.. I grabbed it the other day when it first came out, just have not opted to apply it yet as I am not sure of the real value over my FRG01B plus wonder if it is best to wait to see if Pete does a version since I am using a Pete's now?

i tried this method and it seems like everytime that i have the sd card in the phone and i mount it, it stops what its doing and goes to the motorola logo. and my files that i download are showing up as safari files so i cant extract them>

always remember no matter what, if you wipe it first you won't be sorry afterwards

You do not extract the files. Place them on your SD as the zip file itself.

I don't think Pete is working on anything for the Droid. I could be wrong but I think he's moved on to the droid x and galaxy.

Well, Girluvsdroid said she's beta testing BB0.5, so there's still hope that there may be another Bugless Beast in our future. As far as ROMs for the DroidX, how did they get around efuse? I thought that thing was locked down solid...

I believe rooting & unrooting with EasyRoot requires a reboot afterwards. FWIW...

IF that is true, in the big scheme that would suck. But in terms of FRG22D it does not really matter since all you really get is Flash in the market (which you can have anyway) and some "security and bug fixes" of which better Exchange security is implemented.. so woopie

And in terms of Pete, he does note about FRG22B versus his FRG01B there is so little diff he feels it is covered in his FRG01B so he likely feels the same about D since it adds little real value.

I do know, the day FRG01B OTA was found he rooted it, so he saw value there as that was the big 2.1 to 2.2 jump. But here, maybe he sees no real value in the effort as nothing is really lost for most at the D version. total speculation of course.

People need to understand the term "brick" a lot more than they do now. There's no way to bring your "bricked" phone back to life. It's like telling someone their loved one is dead, but really is in a coma. There's a difference. Both are bad, but one of them is permanent. Er..the other can be too, but we're not arguing semantics.

Not only that, but if you can turn on your phone chances are about 99.99% that you can get into the boot loader by pressing dpad-up during power on. Unless you have a hardware issue, in which case you truly are bricked. Once in the boot loader you can use sbf_flash or RSDLite to flash a stock image and start all over again like nothing happened. Kind of like a get out of jail free card. Don't be afraid to experiment, and don't think because you are stuck in a reboot loop or at the moto logo that you have a bricked phone. If the phone doesn't turn on, it's bricked, otherwise you are good to go. Even if it doesn't turn on, try plugging it into the AC charger for a few hours and coming back to it.
