Where can you see a list of ROMS for HERO?

Slug's Sticky is a good place to start however

As noted, it's by no means an exhaustive list. I only include ROMs that I've either used successfully myself or those that other AF members have recommended as worth trying.

I suggest you have a browse through the HTC Hero: G2 Touch Android Development forum over at XDA. There are a large number of ROMs listed there under development, each with their own thread. Just look for those with the [ROM] prefix; each is uniformly titled with the OS version, UI etc.

As far as what I want, the list is pretty short. First is good Bluetooth functionality. This is something that is totally screwed from Sprint. Specifically I want my radio to receive the address book, dialed calls, missed calls etc. I also want to be able to use Bt music from pandora, etc. I also dont want to have to keep pairing and keep getting disconnected. In short - I want it to work as well as my Blackberry does with the same radio (Kenwood KDC-X994)

Second is decreased lag.

Third is the ability to run the proximity sensor app that is available - it worked great with 1.5 - not at all with 2.1.

Can someone please tell me if there is some place you cans simply see a list of ROMS for rooted Heros? Roughly how many are there? Is there an easy way to see what each is known for so you can narrow down what will be right for each person?

As Xyro said, DO NOT FLASH any roms unless it specifically says it is for the SPRINT HTC Hero (CDMA) It will make your phone into an expensive paperweight.

This is a good place to start reading. XDA This is the place most developers post their roms. The first post in each thread will contain the download link, as well as info about each rom and how to install it.

Because you have 2.27.651.6, you will also need to revert back to the ".5" version of 2.1 before rooting. Instructions can be found here for that.
